While people decide to peruse career into policing, they need to understand what the challenges they will face in the field. Everyday police officers need to make critical decisions that will impact their lives, not just at work, but their personal lives as well. Everyone handles these issues in their careers differently, and it is up to them how they are going to deal with these challenges. In the article, it explains the challenges and hurdles that officers have to deal with everyday, and also provides probable solutions for the issues at hand.

The ways to deal with the loss of spiritual wellness are to confront the the feelings of pain, to learn how to meditate, and also realizing that there is good in people. Officers need come to the realization of their feelings, officers should not hide feelings. If they hide their feelings from people it could potentially lead to depression, anxiety, and cynicism. The goal for police officers by the end of their careers is to not become desensitized, but to grasp the pain and communicate through it (Friedman, 2006). Meditation is not just doing yoga, it is easy as taking deep breaths and relaxing. When you have to see the good in people may seem to be a hard thing. When officers only seem the bad in people everyday is is a hard thing to do seeing the good in people. You can help yourself see the good in people by volunteering at soup kitchens so you can help yourself by seeing that not all people are bad.
