This situation is becoming such a big deal in many misconduct causes such as “A teenager with a baseball bay was deemed enough of a threat for Chicago police to kill the young man, along with his 55-year-old neighbour who came to the door.” (Police Force) This is a great example because it never says that the kid was threatening them with it; it only says that he had it at the time. For all we know the kid could've just been playing with it in the yard and if the officers would have just taken the time to ask what the kid was doing with it that kid might still be alive today. In a previous quote a man was killed during a “nickel ride” (Scott) In that same article it says that the man was “allegedly possessing an illegal switchblade” (Scott) The police in this case did not even ask the man if had a weapon on him or they didn't even bother to search him. They just assumed that he had a weapon on him so the were transporting him to jail and neglected to have him buckled in so he died because of being tossed around in the back of the police vehicle. If the police just took just a few minutes to ask questions before anything they might have been able to spare yet another person life from ending so
