Police Officer Career
The police officer also known as law enforcement officer participate in an essential part in communities throughout the United States. Police officers commonly undergo a relentless amount of training to help them perform their duties as a police officer. The police officer patrols in the assigned area and concentrate on maintaining public order, protecting citizens and property, also preventing and detecting crimes, and enforcing laws within the community. Working as a police officer requires having both physical and mental strength because they deal with a tremendous amount of stress and dangerous situations on a regular basis. Police departments are trying to catch up on the hiring freeze that was in place for years. Also, the difficulty in finding qualified people to fill the position. Additionally, there is a high rate of turnover due to the high stress of the job.
The police officer starting salary is 51,480 for the city of Phoenix. The benefits for a police officer is career enhancement pay, bilingual incentive pay, education/tuition reimbursement, nightshift/weekend differential pay, compensatory time bank option, paid court overtime, the department provided equipment, uniform and ballistic vest allowance, health and life insurance, and retirement plan (City of Phoenix). Also, they receive personal leave, vacation leave, and holiday pay. In closing, the career a police officer is a demanding and challenging one but also a rewarding one It is important to know the steps and process to become a police officer for anyone is who interested. People do this job for several of reasons but the majority of them want to help the people they serve and have that rewarding feeling know that they made a difference at the end of the
