Policy Evaluation Model

The second step of the rational policy evaluation model is what is the nature or cause of the problem. This is where policy people find out how many people are affected by the problem. This is by “knowing what social, economic, political, environmental, health, or other conditions spawned the problem” (DiNitto, D., 2011, Social Welfare: Politics and Public Policy, p. 48). Social problems are showed in rather basic terms often interact to cause a problem. In the book, Social Welfare: Politics and Public Policy there is an example that explains this “so many people with disabilities unemployed? Is it because they feel their disabilities are too severe to engage in gainful employment, they fear losing public benefits, or that employers do not
see that they can do the job” (DiNitto, D., 2011, Social Welfare: Politics and Public Policy, p. 48).
