Democrats and Republicans have many different views on how to make America grow. Both parties want the same outcome for most part. When it comes to getting things done for Americans, Democrats and Republicans don’t see eye to eye on issues. Let’s talk about some of the issues both parties cover such as, healthcare, taxes, education, same sex marriage, and immigration; Covering Democrats first and then Republicans views on the previously mentioned issues. Democrats believe Americans should not go broke just because they get sick. Making insurance companies cover pre-existing conditions and kids would benefit working families. Insurance companies will no longer be able to arbitrarily cap and cancel coverage, or charge women more simply because of their gender. Their views could help so many but, who will pay for this cost? The government would have to keep insurance companies from raising rates. Obama states “No law is perfect and Democrats stand willing to work with anyone to improve the law where necessary”. Tax reform is a big issue when it comes to the American people. Democrats want to extend the tax cuts that George W Bush had put in place for middle class Americans. They feel that raising the taxes on any one making 250,000 more a year is in order. Having the wealthiest and corporations pay their fair share. Democrats want to give middle class families tax cuts that will not injure economic vitality. Lowering the corporate tax rate. The platform states: “We are also committed to reforming the corporate tax code to lower tax rates for companies in the United States.” When a President talks about raising taxes even on himself, makes people listen. Everything always sounds good but, action speak louder than words. Education is the next issue that the Democrats discuss. The Democratic Party understands the importance of turning around struggling public schools. Listening to the teachers at the front lines is very important for understanding the needs of schools, college’s ect. The President has laid out a plan to prevent more teacher layoffs while attracting and rewarding great teachers. This includes raising standards for the programs that prepare our teachers, recognizing and rewarding good teaching, and retaining good teachers. To help keep college within reach for every student, Democrats took on banks to reform our student loan program, saving more than $60 billion by removing the banks acting as middlemen so they can better and more directly invest in students. There are many important parts to our education system and without it amerce would fall. If it weren’t for the teachers teaching and children learning, no one could have a future. Same sex marriage causes a lot of arguments with the churches. Many religionist people don’t believe in same sex marriage. The Democrats believe any citizen should be able to choose who that want to marry, rather its girl marring a girl or, guy marring a guy. Which means, democrats oppose discriminatory federal and state constitutional amendments. I feel if a same-sex couple chooses to get married then, they should be able to and be treated like any other married couple. Democrats are committed to comprehensive immigration reform. This would include bring undocumented immigrants out of the shadows and making them to get right with the law, learn English and pay taxes. Having visas that meets our economic needs, keeps families together, and enforces the law is just some of the immigration reform to come. Having immigrates being able to speech English before becoming a US citizen is fair. Americans go to school to learn our English language and I feel if you’re going to live and work in the USA then you need to speech our language. If I go Mexico and didn’t speech Spanish I wouldn’t get much help from anyone. Why does the US cater to so many? Let now go to the Republican side of things and talk about healthcare. Republicans believe Americans should have the right to choose their healthcare. They say “Chronic diseases, many of them related to lifestyle, drive healthcare costs, accounting for more than 75 percent of the nation's medical spending. To reduce demand, and thereby lower costs, we must foster personal responsibility while increasing preventive services to promote healthy lifestyles”. They want to give us quality healthcare at lower cost but while protecting patient and physician relationship based on mutual trust, informed consent, and privileged patient confidentiality. It seems that their not as much for the people. They are more concerned with playing politics than supporting families in this country. As I wrote before, how are these cost going to be paid for? Republicans want to eliminate the taxes on interest, dividends, and capital gains altogether for lower and middle-income taxpayers. Help families by doubling the child tax credit to $1,000, making it available to more families, and eliminating the marriage penalty. Encourage entrepreneurship and growth by capping the top marginal rate, ending the death tax, and making permanent the Research and Development credit. These are all great things, but how are we going to bring down the deficits if were cutting taxes for everyone. When you start adding everything up, it doesn’t add up to what they want to do. Republicans believe it’s a parents reasonable for their child’s education. Giving more money doesn’t mean better performance from children. They want to improve academic achievement or high school graduation rates. Republicans do not feel that the money being spent on k-12 is not giving the overall results that justify spending. They do want to improve education but, not by spending bunches of money on them. As the years go on, children are learning more and more at a younger age. When will it ever be enough for our society? If this is the case, then how can we every justify spending? Republicans calls for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and affirms the party's support for the Defense of Marriage Act, which forbids federal recognition of same-sex marriages performed in the states. That’s a pretty cut and dry statement. What gives them the right to tell someone who they can marry and cant? This is the 21st century and it’s time to change our outlook on things and stop living in the past. Laws change and people change, let’s move forward and stop discriminating ageist people. Republican Administration and Congress will partner with local governments through cooperative enforcement agreements in Section 287g of the Immigration and Nationality Act to make communities safer for all and will consider, in light of both current needs and historic practice, the utility of a legal and reliable source of foreign labor where needed through a new guest worker program. They will create humane procedures to encourage illegal aliens to return home voluntarily, while enforcing the law against those who overstay their visas. With laws in place and being enforced for immigration then I feel the USA is doing their part in protecting us. It when companies are bypassing them when it becomes a problem. Everyone should be held accountable for what laws are broke, no matter how small they may seem. This would include immigration laws and immigrants being here illegally. There are many of reasons I’m in favor for the Democrats such as, families and children, jobs, and government reform. I’m not big into politics and I try to choose the lesser of two evils. I do believe if the two houses would come together and compromise better, we could get a lot of what President Obama is trying to accomplish done. One of the other reasons I’m for Obama is, not just for our current president but future as well. The way I look at it, is if a black president can be elected then a women president isn’t fair behind. I have almost always went Republican but the last few elections I have not. Things change and my views change as I get older.
