Democratic vs. Republic
Choosing a political party is a decision based on how active you think the government should play a role in the lives of everyday people. When making this opinionated decision, it is better to see where you fit within the political spectrum. The two major parties are the Democratic and the Republican Party. These two parties are both looked differently upon by different selections of people. “Political Party affiliation is a quick way to find out the basic ideas and philosophy for each candidate, both Republicans and Democrats. Political affiliation can be used to understand the core beliefs of each candidate and there are significant differences between …show more content…
them.”
The Democratic Party has the belief that it is the responsibility of the government to take care of every individual.
Democrats believe that there should be alternatives to make a living. This Party feels as if the government knows what is best for all people, but everyone is different and so is every individual’s income. One may feel as if each individual should be able to provide, work, and make a living if they are not disabled. However, society feels as if the government should shelter, feed, and provide to another in different ways. One may also feel as if the Democratic Party is based upon race, which is a big issue in politics. With every individual having their own personal opinion, it makes politics more interesting. Perhaps, The United States had not been run by a Democratic Party. How would society be different now? How many jobs would be filled? How would Democrats make a living if they did not decide to get a job? Questions like these are the questions may remain unanswered until further notice. According to Democrats, the economy is too complex for individuals to be stable on their own. Their belief is that occupational decisions should be guided by government bureaucrats and in the importance of labor …show more content…
unions. A Republican Party is a party that feels as if society should be independent.
Republicans believe that each individual is responsible for his or her own place in society. As a Republican, one feels as if it is your responsibility to take care of themselves and their family, but the government should take care of those who are disabled. Republicans may feel as if it is unfair that their money goes toward a person that does not work and that is not trying to work because there is money that is basically given to them. As a hard worker, most people feel as if they have worked too hard for their money to go to something or someone who is irrelevant. Republicans work tirelessly to cut government spending and to eliminate government waste. Republicans believe individuals should control both their own and their government’s pocketbook – the people should consent all tax upsurges. As an opinion, one may feel as if the government should not be involved with someone who does not want to help themselves. Unfortunately, there are more problems than just financial problems. As for National Defense, Republicans believe in a strong national defense. Republicans know that defending our nation against its enemies must be a fundamental commitment of the federal government and this requires the best trained, best-equipped and most effective military in the world. With America as the world’s only superpower, Republicans believe that true security comes from the strength of character to act
collaboratively, when possible, and alone when necessary. After the tragedy of 9-11,
America must be ready to fight terrorism abroad in order to prevent it at home. Besides that fact of having different political views on each party, both Democratic and Republic have similarities. The Democratic and Republican Parties are different in many ways, but there are a few ways that these two parties compare. Opinionated “facts” is a huge issue within these two parties because everyone likes to be accurate. However, one may feel as if both of these parties are based on opinion and race. Throughout the United States, racial conflict will intervene with political thoughts and views. Being a citizen of the United States, one may learn the opinions of others which may be that the Democratic Party is mainly African Americans, and the Republican Party is mainly Caucasians. The community goes on to live by the morals and ethics that a parent has taught them. Other ways that the two parties are alike is that: “The Democratic and Republican parties have both sued third parties to prevent them from appearing on the ballot in key states, both Democratic and Republican parties have both been sued for conspiring to exclude third parties from the quadrennial presidential debates, and Democratic and Republican parties both agree that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons is a top priority. Obama and Romney also both agree that preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is a top US security priority.”
