The Libertarian Party philosophy according to The Advocates website:
Libertarians support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.
The Libertarian Party Platform is a four part platform; Personal Liberty, Economic Liberty, Securing Liberty and Omissions. Personal liberty is defined in the official website as individuals making choices for themselves and having to deal with the consequences of those choices and that whatever the individual chooses in their life the Libertarians do not either approve or disapprove of those choices. Under the personal liberty section there are six sub-categories: Expression and Communication, Personal Privacy, Personal Relationships, Abortion, Crime and Justice andSelf-Defense. Under the Expression and Communication liberties; the government has no right to censor, regulate or control the media or technology that we are supportive of complete freedom of expression. Freedom of religion is also key to this part. As long as the activities do not violate the rights of others the freedom to be apart of or not are that of the people and the government involvement in either helping or attacking a religion is fiercely opposed. Personal Privacy supports the rights of the Fourth Amendment. Personal Relationships is very simple, the government should not be involved in consenting adults sexual lives or personal relationships. The sexual orientation of a person should have no bearing on the governments treatment of the people. Abortion is not the busy of the government, they should stay completely out of this issue. It is a private issue and each woman must address the issue for themselves. Crime
