Pop culture plays a large role in the increase in narcissistic behavior in the past few decades. For example, we are in the age of reality TV (Wives at whatever city), where these people are famous for being famous. There has been a study done showing that this types of "celebrities" exhibit the behavior of narcissists. These people infiltrate our TVs and could have an influence on our behavioral development. More disturbingly, our political climate perfectly demonstrates a lack of empathy and compassion and is based more on the central idea of the success of the individual instead of the collective good. Another obvious reason for the uptick in narcissistic behavior is social media. Social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram act
