Does popular culture psychologically affect society's self-perception? Society spends an alarming amount of time on social media outlets such as television and the internet to follow their favorite celebrities. This unhealthy amount of exposure to these people, who are being constantly trained and edited into these “perfect” human beings, causes the average person to feel insecure and go through extreme measures to resemble them. Alarmingly, those who are being affected the most are innocent teens and even pre-teens, whose minds are starting to develop a need to be constantly worried about their outward appearance. affects how people view themselves support their claim with multiple studies and through the observations of others who struggle with self-esteem issues due to it. Whether gathering information through multiple statistics or through interviews about one's personal experience that defend the idea that pop culture does affect societies self-esteem, the evidence is more present in all fields compared to those who claim it does not. However, the link between popular culture and its effects on society may not always be psychologically related, there is significant evidence that it has affected the young minds of teenagers to become anxious and insecure about their bodies.
