Popular Places In Japan Case Study
In this section, some popular places in Japan will be taken as examples, in order to help for analysing the travel trend of tourists who come from specific country. The examples of popular places are referred from the prefectures ranking of the number of visitors provided by RESAS. The popular places are top 3 among the average ranking, from year 2011 to 2016, which are Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.

Average Ranking Top 3:
• Tokyo (Rank: 1 [2011 - 2016 Quarter 1])
• Osaka (Rank: 2 [2011 - 2014], 3 [2015 – 2016 Quarter 1])
• Kyoto (Rank: 3 [2011 - 2014], 4 [2015 – 2016 Quarter 1])

This is the line graph showing the number of Chinese tourists to Tokyo from 2011 Quarter 2 to 2016 Quarter 1. By dividing the curve pattern into slices per year, we can see repeatable seasonal trends appearing in the line graph. A regular peak appears every year, which is Quarter 3. Concerning the pattern, the number of tourists are increasing from Quarter 4-1, Quarter 1-2, and Quarter 2-3, then declining from Quarter 3 to Quarter 4.

Concerning the pattern, the data curve of China and Hong Kong are the most stable and obvious results among the top five countries. The number of tourists going to Hokkaido increases from Quarter 4 to Quarter 1, declines from Quarter 1 to Quarter 2; then increases from Quarter 2 to Quarter 3, and declines again from Quarter 3 to Quarter
