Introduction:
Is it possible that paint is capable of insect control? Determine if painting the ceiling of a porch sky blue will fool wasps into thinking it is the sky and keep them from building nests under the eaves or on the ceiling?
Hypothesis:
By painting the inside roof of the porch sky blue we can prevent wasp from making a nest in the eaves of the porch.
Prediction:
If painting the roof sky blue prevents wasps from making nest, and then the inside of the roofs of all porches should be painted sky blue.
Controlled Experimental Method:
The beginning of April when things usually start to bloom and make nest here in Colorado

A music professor named David Dunn has received a patent on his procedures and technology for fighting bark beetles in the western United States. Dunn first became interested in the bark beetles and their ability to destroy drought weakened pine trees, when there was an influx of tree deaths in Northern New Mexico, where he was living at the time. Dunn began to wonder what that much biological activity sounded like, so he recorded the bark beetles using a listening device he built for ten dollars. After recording many different types of bark beetles that lived in trees at various stages in their life cycles, he created a sound composition that showed incredible diversity. Two Northern Arizona University forest scientists heard about Dunn’s work and offered to help push his research further.…

From the moment they were created, killer bees induced around one thousand deaths every year..After escaping the lab the killer bee began taking over mexican and american honey bee hives. Our descendants of southern african bees brought to america by brazilian scientist trying to breed a regular honey bee to an african bee and created the one and only Killer Bee. Killer bees have been in the unites states for over seventeen centuries, so people had a long time to get used to them. Killer bees are not very big organism, they are a little bit over half an inch long. Just like other bees. They are brown with a fuzzy body. Killer bees have four pairs of wings, but they do not fly very well. They are able to chase their target…

Would the average person know that a honey bees' wings stroke 11,400 times per minute, making a distinctive buzzing noise (Delaplane). There are many things that people don’t know about bees. Such as when beekeeping started, the difference between hobbyist and commercial beekeepers. There are also different types of bees, different types of honey and different uses of honey. Most people are perfectly fine never encountering a bee or knowing anything about them. A human’s first reaction to a bee is that the bee is there to harm them by stinging them. Most people that have experienced an encounter with a bee, wasp or hornet would say it wasn’t a positive encounter. Most people probably swing, swat and try to hit the insect away.…

    The Brown Wasps

In Loren Eiseley's Essay The Brown Wasps, Eiseley shows that humans and animals act in similar ways. He says that humans and animals cling to the things they know very strongly. Sometimes they even act as if nothing even changed. Humans and animals tend to want to return to things that they are familiar to as they grow older. Loren Eiseley shows how humans and animals try to cling or recreate an important or favorite place. This essay is about memory, home, places in time. Loren Eiseley does a great job describing the place that he is talking about to make the reader visualize and make them feel like they are there. Some examples are the old men, the brown wasps, the mice, the pigeons, the blind man, and even himself. He recalls his childhood in Nebraska and how the train stations used to be and how the pigeons would fly around waiting for people boarding the trains to feed them. Loren Eiseley once planted a tree with his father, when he was a boy and he acts like it has been there the whole time. Years later he returned to the house where they had planted the tree and realized that the tree he had been imaging all his life was gone.…

The color of your roof can help control the temperature inside your home and make your home more energy efficient. If your concern is with keeping your home as cool as possible, then a white or other light colored roof is a good idea because it reflects solar heat. If you want your roof to absorb heat to keep your home warmer, then a darker roof is a better choice since the dark color will soak up the sun's rays and transfer the heat into your attic.…

    Fig Wasps and Fig Trees

Fig wasps (Agaonidae) are a species of wasps that have a life span of a couple of days and could be as little as 2mm in length. Hence the name these wasps are sole pollinators of fig trees (Ficus), each fig tree species has its own particular wasp for pollination. Fig trees are totally dependent on fig wasps for pollination and have been for the past 60 million years, this shows that this process of pollinating is efficient and sustainable creating equilibrium between the two populations. Fig wasps also benefit from this unaware pollination as they only breed in the figs. So without the other party neither would survive and become extinct. If neither exists this would impact the ecosystem on a huge scale as other organism which depend on these two populations would be equally affected including habitats and disruptions in food chains which could lead to other problems. While some fig wasps benefit the fig tree and vise versa there are also non-pollinating fig wasps which are parasitic. Even so both kinds have a highly similar life cycle.…

Since the foundation time in the United States the protestant culture has dominated the country. Today several people say that the globalization and the immigrants has end with the Anglo-conformism. The globalization helps to access to new information about other cultures, learn other languages and to travel around the world easier than before. The globalization sometimes promotes the localization, it is about to establish and adopt new costumes from other places. In fact, in the USA are a lot of subcultures, which are growing, and taking place, like Spanish or Chinese. Each culture has their own towns and a small economy in several states. The cultural diversity stars with little national minorities from other countries, so people think that very soon we will see the United Stated as a multi cultural country. But that is not enough to become the Unites States a multi cultural country. The WASP model has dominated the social structure of the United States. This model is assimilated for most cultures from immigrant and globalization effects. Furthermore, according to the Anglo-conformism, if any culture survives, it is excluding from the society. That is because; the WASP culture still dominated the country in several states and…
