In the short story “Porsche” by Bailey White, the porsche symbolizes a painful memory because it was the last presence of dad and also because the author’s mom wanted to hide it somewhere out of her sight. The porsche ties back to the boy’s dad because his dad “hurled himself out of the house, jumped into his little red Porsche, and scratched off in a swirl of dust”(White).
