These new inventions lead to the creation of new jobs and the rapid growth of cities. The Southern cotton industry was booming due to the increased need for cotton thread in the northern textile mills. The increase in machinery and advanced technology also lowered the prices of food, lighting and fuel (Doc 1). Although the revolution brought about positive effect like more jobs and lowered prices on goods; it also brought about negative effects like overcrowding and poor conditions. Immigrants started to flood the cities in search for factory jobs resulting in areas with extremely high populations, overcrowded houses and poor sanitation. Not only did the middle class factory workers have poor home conditions, they also underwent extremely poor working conditions. Both men and women factory workers worked in dim, dangerous factories for long, grueling days spanning up to 12 hours to be paid the bare minimum. Factory workers were not looked at like human beings by the big corporate business men; their lives did not matter to them at all. The only positive to come out of the extremely dangerous condition was the rise of unions. Unions that formed during the Industrial Revolution were meant to unite the working men against the wrongdoings of the wealthy business owner. Unions demanded things like “...reduction of the hours of…
Richard Trevithick’s invention had many impacts on the town and industrial growth and the invention had major concerns on European society. Both positive and negative. The steam locomotive allowed the generation of power from a chemical source, burning coal to create steam and changing that into physical energy. This led to the increase of transport systems built around steam engine technology this extremely reduced how long it took to transport people and goods to distant places. Furthermore, it moved people from the agriculture life into cities severely which changed job the way they saw jobs.…
One of the biggest reasons that say it did make people’s lives better was that these new advancements made our lives easier and improved our standard of living. In most good deeds they almost always also have something negative attached to them, and these new advancements were no exception. As pointed out by my previous example of the car these did in fact make our lives easier. Cars let us go places faster and cranes let us build buildings higher. Most of these new inventions were made for convenience and therefore increase the ease at which we do things and therefore improve our quality of life. The inventions coupled with a demand for them combined with the invention of the new factory system created a myriad of jobs for people and changed the way we lived our lives. People were making more money and the inventions didn’t stop developing. So on the surface these new inventions were good and definitely did make peoples lives better.…

There were unhealthy conditions and air pollution from all the factories. Also, there were unfair and unsafe conditions in factories, which resulted in people having medical problems. For example, in document 1, someone is interviewing a worker from a factory. The worker exclaims that he began working at the age of 10; he worked from five in the morning to nine at night and had one period of 40 minutes in the 16 hours at noon for a meal. Also, he wasn’t educated and could only read, but not write. More examples of bad factory conditions are in document 2, where another factory worker was interviewed about their experience in the factories. The man has damaged lungs, improper leg muscles, and he would die in a year. His doctor says it was caused by dust in the factories, overworking, and an insufficient diet. His brother died from a bad cut from a machine and of infection. The worker also stated that he knows that nearly a dozen children died during the two and a half years that he worked there. These examples show that there were many negative effects of the Industrial…
Technology and advancement is great right? Sure, for some people. Technology and advancement can have its benefits, but it can also have its negative impacts as well. In fact, a perfect time period to see this negative impact in technological advancement is the second half of the nineteenth-century in America. American technology and industrialization changed the life of many social groups. Some positively, but most negatively. The urban population felt the worst impact during this period. The New South also felt the negative effects of this period, and the middle-class got a little bit of both good and bad. Generally, in the late 1800s, technological advancements and industrialization had a severely negative impact on many different social groups.…
The positive changes that came from the Industrial Revolution included more jobs and money for the people, new technologies, and better transportation systems. Before the 1800s, many women and children could not work, which resulted in a lower standard of living. After the factories opened, mostly everyone could work and earn money for shelter, food, and clothes. In addition to working at these factories, the workers made items which the people could buy for cheaper prices. Some of these items included tools for houses, clothing, and domestic utensils. (D11) In addition, transportation improved during this era. After the 1800s, there were more trains and railroads, and automobiles were invented as well. Because of this, people could get to their locations faster and have businesses develop worldwide. (D8) Finally, better treatments for illnesses and more effective medications were discovered since people began to get sick due to pollution and long, poor working conditions. For these reasons, the Industrial Revolution had many positive aspects and improved life worldwide.…

Many things came to be at the turn of the 19th century, such as the Industrial Revolution, which brought many positive things to the world today. One of many positive effects was the lift off of innovative technology. Such as the telegraph and telephone. These inventions transformed communications in which sped up the sharing of important knowledge (Wyatt 112). Technology led to the development of mechanization in which another positive effect was the ability to mass-produce. Machinist had to individually cut out and create parts but with the help of machines. The process of creating uniformed components for finished goods became rapid and simple (Wyatt 110). Mass production helped with the economical growth at it ensured…
The Industrial Revolution was a time in history which took place from the 18th to 19th century (Revolution, 2015). It was a period of time when many new inventions were introduced into the world. The revolutionary new technologies that started off being created in Britain, began to spread to other European countries causing the Industrial Revolution to have a significant impact in a variety of places. Some of the main events that triggered the Industrial Revolution include the invention of the Spinning Jenny and the steam engine. These inventions had a very significant effect on society as they led to the beginning of big industries such as the cotton industry and also by producing power to drive transport and machinery. The creation of these inventions started mass production, helped with advancements in manufacturing and began urbanisation (Van, Tol, Ottery and Keith, 2012).…
As one can see, these new inventions made production easier and more advanced. Since the production was easier there was a cheaper the price, because of this, more people could afford to clothe.
