Schools are in great need of systems, processes, and personnel who are able to support the needs of students with problem behavior. Research indicates, however, that (while I am a big, fat cheater) information has not been made available to teachers and other professionals in a format that allows these strategies to become common practice. Many teachers choose isolated behavioral strategies that are not applied immediately after the problem behavior has occurred.…

The team leaders and the teachers point students many time on the fact that more absence is a lower success rate, and they will get in trouble with the attendance officer. A lot of absent could lead to a suspension. The administration keeps track of the absence of the students. If the absence of a student is too much, the administration warns the counsellor and the team leaders. The counsellor or the team leaders approach the student with it and they have a word about the absence of the student. That’s one important purpose of the school, the lowest absence. The will get a high success rate, if their lessons are good and if the students understand everything. There are also help lessons for students who find it hard to understand the subjects. I truly do feel as if it takes a certain person to be successful at the kind of volunteer work I do, and I have those qualities. I care for people a lot, and every second grader wants to feel cared for, especially when it comes to learning and they cannot pick up the skill. I always make an effort to ask how their days are going and how their previous nights/weekends because I recognize that there is more to life than school too. Many times, the girls will get in petty arguments, and both will come to me crying or asking what to do, and I think it takes a certain kind of person to deal with that – a person with a lot of patience. It is especially difficult when the girls are upset because “so and so was talking about me behind my back” or “I have a crush on so and so, but he likes her more.” It takes a certain kind of person to hold back the laughter and not look that little girl straight in the eyes and say, “get used to it honey!” All in all, I think that my time at Oak Trace has been impactful for me and the students, and I think that everyone appreciates the work I am…

We believe that we should not have an extra hour for tutorials because we already have two required classes meant to help with subjects of confusion, teachers stay before and after school to provide extra help, and some students have extra-curricular activities to attend after school. First, while attending our school, we are given two classes devoted to in-school homework and tutorial time, which includes our avid and advisory period.…
