POSITIVE THINKING ESSAY
Hi, everybody!
Now I’m telling you about POSITIVE THINKING.
First I’m explaining you there are two kind of people: optimistic and pessimistic people.

A pessimist is a person who nurtures a consistently negative attitude, expecting the worst of people and of situations. A pessimist relates to the “half empty glass,” ignoring the fact that the glass is also half full. He or she typically believes that the world in which we live is the worst possible of all worlds and it is growing bleaker all the time.

An optimist is a person disposed to take a favorable view of things.
Besides, researches made along tens of years revealed that optimistic people have a better health, and live longer. Optimistic people are also more resistant to stress and less prone to depression.

So, I think it is interesting to know:

How to be a more positive person
Positive thinking is when you put out a deliberate effort to act and think in an optimistic way. When you think positive you see the best in things and expect a successful conclusion. Positive thinking brings about positive actions. You will complete things faster, do a superior job, have more success, and be a happier and healthier person by being positive.

Here are six things that you can do to improve your positive thinking and help you feel better about yourself.
1 - Motivate Yourself
Everyday. Being productive will help you build self-confidence and make you feel better about yourself.

2 - Think Positive
Positive thinking brings about positive actions. Do not go into things thinking you are going to fail. Go into everything thinking you will succeed and do a good job.

3 - Do Your Best
Always approach everything with energy and enthusiasm and do the best job that you can. When you do your best, you will feel better about yourself.

4 - Leave the Past Behind
Remember past successes and leave past failures behind. When you focus on your successes, you boast your

But hey, just look on the bright side. I mean it’s always darkest before the dawn. If you dream it, you can do it. Watch. No? Oh well. America today is decidedly and unwaveringly optimistic, we are positive thinkers. Positive thinking is defined by one of its leading advocates, Dr. Charlene Proctor as “the process of choosing positive emotions to create an outlook that translates into a new or better-chosen reality.” In short, our thoughts and attitude can affect the course of the outside world, so we should strive to be positive to reap positive outcomes, while stifling negativity for the opposite reason. We praise the optimist while shunning the pessimist. But the question is does every cloud have a silver lining? In order to show positive thinking as the dangerous paradigm that it is we will first examine the causes of positive thinking, move onto its effects, and then finally round out with solutions.…

Rodolfo Costa once said; “Cultivate an optimistic mind, use your imagination, always consider alternatives, and dare to believe that you can make possible what others think is impossible” (Goodreads). Remaining positive has always held an important role in my life. I strive to find positives in every negative situation, and remember that I can always learn something from it. Sometimes changing the way you view a situation can make all the difference. Even through times where I have had every reason to give up, I have chosen to keep a positive attitude. I have found that when I decide to do this, it makes me significantly happier, and I take much more away from the situation.…

A study done by Professor Barbara Fredrickson proves that positive thinking is better for bodies and minds. Fredrickson states, “Positive emotions expand our awareness, our ability to take in more and to see the bigger picture is facilitated.” (Malcolm). Here, she’s basically saying that if positivity is used then more minds will be open to suggestions and will see even more opportunities. A positive mindset can help physical health as well. “Having more moments of that open mindset helps us connect with others and it helps us build our resilience and our physical health because we become more energetic.” (Malcolm). Fredrickson is telling us that negative thinking causes bodies to have less energy and makes people moody which is never satisfying. When a positive attitude is used, it can be easy to notice by others and they can then tell if someone is approachable. “With positive emotions, there is more of an easiness in the torso and I think that’s consequently because other people can pick up and let others know that you’re safe to approach.”(Malcolm). Being visibly kind and approachable makes others want to be kind back and could possibly make them think positively as well. Positive thinking is a major factor of mental health and can directly affect multiple things in…

According to one of the articles that I researched about the effects of optimism on physical health suggested that people who have an optimistic view tend to engage in health-promoting actions such as: not smoking, not drinking alcohol, watching their diet, using sunscreen, taking vitamins, and other health-related actions. According to the Encyclopedia of Health and Behavior Management (2004) there have been studies on people who optimistic about their lives and the studies have shown that the optimistic people are less likely to become sick or to develop a disease as a person who is pessimistic. In a study that monitored the blood pressure of people doing normal activities the results showed that a person who was optimistic had less of a chance of elevated blood pressure than a pessimist. Another study has shown that optimism can lead to faster recoveries from surgeries or an accident. . However, a person who has an optimistic view may think that everything will go his or her way and that nothing can go wrong for either one of them. This could lead them to taking behavioral risks, such as: engaging in unprotected sex, drinking alcohol, doing drugs, smoking cigarettes and not taking care of their general health. I know that when I have been pessimistic about…

Optimism can be both a positive characteristic and a negative depending on how a person applies it to their life. One might think that optimism is solely a positive characteristic, but this is not always the case. Optimism may be described by researchers as a personal trait, this is termed dispositional optimism. In this perspective of optimism a person has an expectation in which a person will have more positive events and a small amount of negative events that will have to be dealt with at times. Another view of optimism is called explanatory style, in which the focus is more on how a person might explain a negative event in a way the keeps them positive. Optimism also can be a negative thing in such aspects of unrealistic optimism. In this aspect of optimism expectations are often so high for a positive outcome that they defy reality. This can easily be described with an example of a person who thinks that they will win the lottery, when in reality the odds are stacked against them. A person with this type of thinking might commonly say that “It won’t happen to me”, when in reality it is more than possible. Optimistic people tend to be healthier and less stressed, and deal with life’s stressors more productively as compared to a pessimistic outlook on life. Hope is another aspect of optimism that can have a positive bearing on one’s life. Hopefulness can create more flexible thinking adding to one’s ability to solve problems. It also builds self-motivation, and reinforces the benefits of optimism. Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary online defines hope as cherishing a desire with anticipation. One can see how optimism and hope are different yet interrelated. Were optimism is more expectation that more positive events will occur as compared to negative, or one’s perspective for how they explain negative events. Defensive pessimism also might sound like a negative perspective, but can be beneficial in one’s life when applied positively. Positive Psychology defines…

Tests have been conducted to prove a connection between the physical and the psychological. One of these tests demonstrated that a student's outlook on life directly affects his cell-mediated immunity. This means that an individual with a more pessimistic perspective makes himself more vulnerable to sickness due to lowered immunity, while a generally positive individual maintains a stronger immune system. This fascinating research adds a completely new aspect to the importance of optimism. Even if you have little motivation to benefit others with your positivity, you might want to consider fostering a sense of optimism for your own…

When a person displays a positive psychology, he is very hopeful for the future and this is reflected in his performance whether in school or at work. As noted, his personality traits will determine his behavior or reaction (Coon and Mitterer, 2010). He does not make excuses for bad things or allow temporary setbacks to deter him, but continues to persevere (Seligman M.E.P., 2002). Upon completion of my Optimism Test, my overall score was average. I had no qualms about this because some of the situations in the questions did not happen to me, so I will assume that my results were indicative that others in my age and gender group responded likewise. Three experiences that account for my level of optimism were my decision to relocate, my experiences as a grandmother, and my divorce. These experiences may be life-altering for some, but they have not made me feel bad about the way I choose to live my life.…

Positive thinking significantly relates back to the healing ministry of Jesus. Positive thinking is ones mental attitude that sees the optimistic side of things. To be positive, one must fill his/her mind with thoughts of security, faith, and confidence. It will always be true that when one thinks positively, happiness, joy, and good health will be yet to come. Positive thinking recounts to the healing ministry of Jesus because in many instances Jesus told people that if they did not believe in him and think positively, a miracle could not be accomplished. Jesus once said, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” Through this quote, it is very evident that Jesus required individuals to have positive thoughts and faith in him before he could complete any type of healing. In The Raising of Lazarus, Lazarus would’ve never been brought back from the dead if Mary and Martha didn’t have faith in the Son of God and his miraculous powers. This goes to show all of us how positive thinking relates to the healing ministry of Jesus…
