Post Graduation Plan: Medical Assistant or Culinary Arts
Rachel jorawar 11/27/13

Post Graduation plan essay.

After high school in not sure what exactly what I want to do, but I have two colleges in mind. My first choice is Berks Technical Institute, where I would study to be a medical assistant. One reason why I’m debating on that profession is because not everyone is looking for a medical assistant, and I don’t want to study something if its going to turn out pointless. My plan B will be, the arts institute of Philadelphia, where I would like to study culinary arts, I have a serious passion for cooking and baking. My plan C will be getting a job with my uncle if any of this does not go as planned. Medical assistants work with physicians, mainly in outpatient care facilities, such as medical offices and clinics. If I were to go into that field my day would consist of Answering telephones, Updating and filing patient medical records, Coding and filling out insurance forms, Scheduling appointments and Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services. Starting pay right out of college for medical assistants would be $10.14 an hour. Additional education is not mandatory but would also be nice to move up to a registered nurse, which they get paid a better wage. Some obstacles I would have to over come to pursue my dreams into going into this profession would be, being more social with others, I will over come these obstacles slowly because I am a very closed and shy person. Also, if my plans do not work of for college as I stated earlier, I will work in the construction field as a back up plan. I came to this decision when I took a course back in the 10th grade for home decorating, and I loved it although I had to drop it off my schedule because I was short a couple of credits. My day would start off by making a couple of phone calls to find out when shipments are coming in such as power tools, drywall paint and such. The next thin a construction worker does is load up the tools they would need for the day ahead. These are usually had tools such as drills, saws, levels, shovels, tool belts and reciprocating saws. The next thing that will have to be done before going to the construction sight is maybe stopping at he lumber yard, or hardware store to get tools, lumber, dry wall or nails. Sometimes a construction worker has to leave a job in the middle of the day to do an estimate on another job, this is usually the general contractors position. There are usually no specific educational requirements for entry-level construction workers. Apprentice laborers are often expected to have a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.). If you plan to pursue construction, classes in English, math, physics, shop and welding can come in handy; many high schools and community colleges offer these courses. Balance, depth perception and eye-hand coordination are all critical to keep you steady on high beams and your fingers clear of chop saws. You also need Strength and Endurance.
