Samuel Clemens advised “Go to bed early, get up early-this is wise”, and by appreciating the soundness of his words, rarely, if ever, do I find myself in the chaos of late morning traffic. By accomplishing little everyday small tasks such as getting up early in time for a healthy breakfast or studying in motivating environments allows me to be extremely productive and effective as a student at the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). For the past seven months, I’ve held an environmental specialist internship at the Santa Rosa Water Department that goes hand-in-hand with my dedication and efforts at the junior college. Over the past two years, it has been my pleasure to participate in courses and to become a part of the SRJC culture. I am motivated and eager to continue to develop a strong background of calculus, general chemistry, biology and critical thinking, and expanding physics, engineering and organic chemistry. My overarching education goal is to receive a bachelors of science in environmental engineering or hydrologic science. My top three universities of choice are UC Berkley and Cal Poly for their environmental engineering programs and UC Santa Barbara for hydrologic…
During my high school career, my extracurricular activities have included being a member of the DHS band for five years, where I have competed with the band as well as individually, earning numerous 1s, medals, and patches. I have had the privilege to play instruments such as the clarinet, bass clarinet, alto clarinet, and alto saxophone competitively. I have also been an art student since my sophomore year and I currently am enrolled in the Honors Art 4 class. and during my time have competed in the Visual Academic Scholastic Event (VASE) earning numerous medals. I also participate in my school advanced computer programming course where I have made and participated in many Flash games where I had to draw my own game scenes with a mouse, develop…
With the countless options the school offers, I have been able to redefine myself and passions through field hockey, outdoor pursuits, rowing, and especially sailing. The extra-curricular programs at Shawnigan have gifted me a platform. Allowing myself to become a confident speaker eager to provide a voice to the student population, a trusted role model to those I have earned the respect of, and a positive yet humble individual in any…

Art is an expressive outlet for people to be able to get an important point across. That could either be affected by social/political issues taking place at the time or their personal experiences. These events and experiences have led to the breakthrough of many texts. Langston Hughes, the author of poems, Mother to Son and Let America be America again captures the Harlem Renaissance period, which was a social and artistic revival of the African American community. His poems explore the themes of stereotyping and taking action. John Lee Hancock also reinforces these themes through his moving film The Blind Side. The social contexts in which these texts were made help the public dive into and have an understanding of these events.…
I started taking classes part-time at OSU my junior year of high school, and full-time my senior year. By the time I graduated high school, I took 40 credit hours of classes at OSU and had a 3.81 OSU GPA. Despite the tough coursework I found time to partake in numerous extracurricular activities. When I officially joined OSU as a freshman, I joined the small biomedical science major and biological sciences group. In these groups, I have not only helped my peers with their academics, but I have given them guidance on how to simultaneously manage both their academics and fitness pursuits.…
I am seeking to change my major from Kinesiology to Recreation Park Tourism Administration. When I original choose Kinesiology as a major I was attracted to this major because I’ve always been motivated by sports and athletics since I was a toddler. My grandmother was a Kinesiology major, she taught middle school PE and Science. My father is a Kinesiology major and he is an athletic director at Soka University. I felt very compelled to follow in their footsteps. I realized after two terms in Kinesiology this was not the right channel to follow my educational career goals.…
I was in the same predicament in science after taking Biology 1 as a freshman in place of the usual biology prep course. By the end of my freshman year I had a 4.0 GPA and two academic awards, the Legacy award and the Honors award. Academic accomplishments aside, music and other arts have also played a huge role in my adolescent life. There was not a single year in high school I spent without either singing or dancing. As a freshman I participated in both chorus and lmarching band, which were both full of enthralling competitions and group trips. I marched with the same band my junior year and sang again with the chorus as a senior, but for me sophomore holds a slightly different story. After being promoted to the tenth grade I took a summer vacation with my father that turned into a yearlong stay in Nashville, Tennessee. During my stay I attended Stratford High School, which was under renovation and working towards becoming a magnet academy. Academically the school’s English department was on the rise, and it took me far in my writing abilities as well as my love for the subject. As for my…
The first step of my plans is getting my high school done, and get ready for college. Right now I am about to graduate I had two months until my graduation, what I need to do right now is get focused on school and trying to learn everything that I need to get ready for college these are my plans for the rest of my high school. But my plan after my high school is not going to college, I am going to look for a job where I may be working for a year or less. The reason why I am going to work before going college is because when I get into college I want to have enough saved money to buy the stuff that I need for college like books, and then when I already have the enough money to go colleges and pay my own stuff I would look for a part time job…
My journey of life has lead me on many different experiences and allowed my to acquire many valuable skills I will take throughout my life. From being a involved in volunteer programs from kids with disabilities, being a member of National Honor Society, to my first job, I have learned leadership, team work, responsibilities, patience, creativity, and quick thinking. Overall, I want to be involved on campus while still getting good grades in the classroom and with the skills I have acquired through my life, I believe I will be able to achieve this goal and be an asset to the college I wish to attend.…
Physicians post- high school careers take many years to complete. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that, “Almost all physicians complete at least four years of Undergraduate school.” The math that is required for you to take in college includes algebra and trigonometry. From a young age we’re asked what we want to be when we grow up, never how we expect to become when we grow up. I was well aware of what I wanted to become, but not sure how to get there until I started high school when my counselor explained to me the importance of having a full portfolio with a wide range of extracurricular activities. Then it became clear to me, I needed extracurricular activities to become who I wished to be. Throughout my high school career I’ve participated in several extracurricular actives such as math club, soccer and UIL One Act. In the future, I want to participate in these activities or anything similar to those I participated in high school.…
When I was fourteen years old in the ninth grade I decided to drop out of High School. I reassure myself that working was more important at the time than sitting in a classroom for eight hours. As years went by I needed to find myself a better paying job but I had one problem and that was not having an education.…
