According to the interviews in the clip from sixty minutes poverty greatly affects the lives of children possibly more than the parents. The students interviewed for the show shared how they felt responsible for their parent's financial issues. The children viewed themselves as another mouth to feed and body to clothed. Believing they are the source of their families problems will put pressure on their educational experiences. Many high school students feel that school is less important and that dropping out is more beneficial for them in order to obtain a job and help pay bills.
