Australia scored quiet low (36) on power distance because individuals in societies may not be equal. This expresses the attitude of the cultures towards these in equalities amongst all of us. Hofstede. G. (n.d) states that, “Power Distance is defined as the extent to which the less powerful members of institutions and organizations within a country expect and accept that power is distributed unequally”. It has to do with the fact that the followers endorse a society’s inequality as much as by the leaders. This

People in such societies have a strong concern with establishing the absolute Truth; they are normative in their thinking. They exhibit great respect for traditions, a relatively small propensity to save for the future, and a focus on achieving quick results.

Without socialization we do not become “human q ”. based on the way they were raised. “With a high score of 71, Australia is an Indulgent country. People in societies classified by a high score in Indulgence generally exhibit a willingness to realise their impulses and desires with regard to enjoying life and having fun. They possess a positive attitude and have a tendency towards optimism,” (Hofstede. G. (n.d)). Australia and China are known to be different in almost every characteristic According to Hofstede’s Cultural dimensions. These two countries are different in all the five aspects, which are, individualism, power distance, uncertainty avoidance, masculinity and long term orientation. Begin with China; Chinese people are very collectivism as they like to do things in group, high in power distance as inequality is considered to be normal and low score in uncertainty avoidance as they like to live with rules and instruction. China is masculinity and highly long term oriented society. On the other hand, Australians got the second-highest score in term of individualism, thus low score in power distance, as they believe in egalitarianism. They ranked high in uncertainty avoidance because they view unexpected situation as a challenge. Lastly, they are masculinity and short-term orientation society (China - Geert Hofstede, n.d.).…

People have deep ties to their families and communities and gives preference to group interest. The Australian score on this dimension is 90 percent (The Hofstede Center). This high score implies that Australians believe that every person has an individual responsibility to solve his or her own problems instead of relying on other people. I explained that a culture with a low power distance would believe in minimizing distinctions in social classes, as well as believe challenging authority is acceptable. She explained to me that Lithuania had a power distance somewhere in the middle, but leaning more towards high power distance. Kotryna explained that there are three main cities and in these cities people generally know each other and are very friendly, most people are considered equal. In these cities, the middle class and upper class live and work in nice conditions. There are other rural areas where the poor farmers live and work, as well as places where people who have power such as government officials live. Kotryna explained there is a definite difference between power distance in the cities where everyone is similar in social classes compared to the poor farmer areas. People of the city visiting the rural, poor farms is very rare, but if that were to happen, the poor farmer would not be the equal, there would be a high power distance to which the people in higher social classes were seen as better and more powerful, and the farmer would not be able to question these people much. She said generally the power distance would be situational and in the situations experienced on an everyday basis, people would stick to their respective cities and among the cities would be…
