This was a convention where women and men would meet and have discussions about women’s rights and the changes that need to be made. The document explains how women have very little rights and did not have any voice against anything. It states “if married, in the eye of the law, civilly dead” (Anthony, Stanton, Gage 240). Once women were married they did not have a say on much of the relationship. They had to obey their husband’s rules and were not allowed to go out much. They were housewives and in the eye of men, women are only good for cooking, cleaning and having kids. To men women were property and were treated like slaves but with love and not complete hate. In the document it states that men “created a false public sentiment by giving to the world a different code of morals for men and women… which exclude women from society” (Anthony, Stanton, Gage 241). This means that women aren’t capable to make their own decisions or able to speak against politics, economics, or social manners. This is because it was believed that men had the upper hand because of they were declared smart and women were not. For this reason, women started to fights for the rights they deserved so that they would no longer have to answer to
