During the mock client interview, Mr. Lyer did not add a lot of factual information to his case. He stated that he had been drinking all day starting when he woke up. He stated that he did not realize that he had hit someone until he saw the arm through his windshield. Believed that doing drugs and drinking with Ms.Frisky was a condition of employment. He also stated that it was blackmail. Mr.Lyer had a previous arrest for aggravated assault. That arrest also involved alcohol. He stated that he has a valid driver’s license. But contradicted himself saying he has driven with an expired license. He also mentioned other arrests for driving under the influence and an arrest that was associated with illegal drugs. The book that I chose to do my report on is called Life in Prison by Stanley “Tookie” Williams. Tookie Williams was the infamous founder of the notorious Crip gang. The main objective of this book is to dispel some of the street myths surrounding prison life and to steer people away from crime. Tookie first learned about prison from his friend older brother named Rock. Rock spent most of his time in and out prisons. Rock described prison as a gladiator school where men go to prove their toughness. Rock made prison seem like a fun place to go to, and Tookie was eager to go to prison just to prove that he was tough. In 1981, Tookie was found guilty of killing four people and was sent to death row in San Quentin, which is a maximum prison in California.…

I interviewed Becky Hendrix, Executive Director for Professional Care Services. I recently had the honor of interviewing someone in our community who has had more than twenty years of leadership experience in our community. The interview ended up taking much longer than I expected because I was so influenced by what she had to say, I did not want to miss anything. Mrs. Becky Hendrix started her career as a CPA back in the 80 's for the World Color Press. Her leadership abilities were quickly realized, and she was promoted to head CPA. From there she moved on to the Professional Care Service where she remained for fifteen years serving as a CPA, and finally working her way up to the Executive Director. Becky was in charge of over 187 employees. My conversation with Becky took a direction that I did not expect. She attributes her success to the leadership traits that she has learned over the years, and quoted many of the very ideas and theories almost verbatim from our class lecture. That was an incredible experience to witness firsthand how these traits become behaviors and practices.…

First let me start off by saying that the movie My Cousin Vinny is a classic movie and is a good comedy. With that being said I think this movie did a good job of giving people a little taste of the insight that actually goes into the criminal justice system. Throughout this essay I will be explaining how the way the movie portrayed the Criminal justice system is wrong and right in some cases. Along with that I will put in my two senses on how the situation would or should have been handled in our present time in day. This movie is based around Billy and Stan being accused of a murder at a gas station in Alabama.…

A different approach will be used to gain perspectives from prison staff. For the Warden of the prison and counselor(s) I will be using a targeted sample approach. These interviews will be conducted in a semi-unstructured manner. The goal will be focused around their perspectives of cannabis, mental health, and rehabilitation within the prison. These will be semi-structured interviews there will be specific objectives such as gaining knowledge of how many inmates suffer from mental health disorders. What treatments are used to help these disorders? What kind of drug policy the prison has (through the eyes of counselor/warden vs. staff/detainees)? Because there are specific goals, these will be semi-structured interviews, however, this is meant to be more of a discussion and conversation than a structured interview. It will be closer to an unstructured…
