Overall pragmatic language skills includes total scores in each of the three aspects of pragmatic protocol checklist and the total scores obtained by combining all the three aspects in both the groups. Verbal, paralinguistic and nonverbal aspects reflects the overall pragmatic skills acquired in adults. Descriptive statistics results as observed from Table 5.10 and 5.11 mean scores indicated low mean scores of males than females in 2 aspects i.e. verbal and paralinguistic aspects; it also indicated superior skills of males in non-verbal aspects. While to compare the three aspects nonverbal skills are better acquired and used by cerebral palsy adults due motor impairment and other issues like vision and mental retardation many of the adults chose to use noon verbal mode and have limited speech.
TWO-WAY ANOVA results from Table 5.12 in males and females indicated that in terms of comparing the 3 aspects i.e. verbal, paralinguistic and non-verbal aspects there is a significant difference found within the aspects of pragmatic language skills as p-value is 0.0007 which is less than 0.05 hence a significant difference found.
