Prambanan Temple Case Study
Rr. Diana Ayudya Master’s degree students of architectural engineering concentration of tourism planning Universitas Gadjah MadaYogyakarta in 2006 has conducted research about “ The marketing strategy of the tourist area of prambanan temple as the historical and cultural tourist area in an effort to raise the number of tourists visit”. This research aims to conduct an analysis of the decline in foreign tourists to visit the tourist area of Prambanan temple with doing identify against perception, motivation and satisfaction of foreign tourists, as well as the opinion of the Manager and performer. Further analysis of the marketing strategies used by PT. Taman Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (PT. TWCBPRB) to the tourist area of Prambanan Temple. In addition, conduct an analysis to the tourist satisfaction in the tourist area of Prambanan temple with doing identify to the perception, motivation, tourist opinion, the organizer and the tourist.

    According to his present strategy, Jack Roth’s motel is facing quite a few problems as his marketing strategy in the past years are not up to the best of the level. His strategy when he had started his motel just obliged to a small rate of visitors. In addition, he wanted his motel to be independent and thereby did not choose to have any amenities or alluring facilities or features. His motel was located in a small town along with rapidly expanding motels and these motels were half a mile from highway. While other motels had a sign at the border of the highway, Sleepy Inn choose to let the visitors find the motel, which attracted less visitors as compared. Moreover, there was hardly any advertising or marketing of the motel, which was required as it did not have any additional features to attract the visitors. Area wise, the strategy goes into toes as well because of the similar destination resorts with full services rendered to the visitors. Therefore, Jack Roth decided to bring in a few changes. He changed his motel into a full service hotel, his focus had shifted to prices and thereby, he started investing on signs and distributing brochures. He had vested interest in a particular study that was carried out by regional tourist bureau. It stated that 78% people preferred to stay at motel with recreational facilities when it comes to choice of accommodation. Measuring and managing customer satisfaction is important for the survival, development and success of the tourism business (Sirakay, 2003). Customer’s satisfaction is the main concern for every resort and hotel in order to keep the customers loyal to the resort and make them permanent visitors. It is believed that higher level of customer satisfaction may result in higher levels of repurchase. When measuring customer satisfaction, the basic premise is that consumers reflect on their expenses and express these honestly and free of bias. Customer satisfaction is one of the most frequently examined topics in the hospitality and tourism industry because it plays an important role in the continued and sustained operation of any tourism business. A high level of customer satisfaction is likely to generate positive feedback from the customer including revisiting the tourist area, increased purchase of products, and recommending these to others (Kozak and Rimmington, 2000; Gursoyet al. 2003; Andaleeb and Conway, 2006). The input of the tourist towards development and enhancement of a tourist destination is therefore essential in maintaining its competitive advantage. This study was carried out with the primary aim of identifying factors that may lead to tourist dissatisfaction and hence improving the customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction has been identified as an important concept in establishing the performance of different destinations.
