Introduction The book Prayer: The Timeless Secret of High-Impact Leaders by Dave Earley is a great guide for leaders and upcoming leaders on the importance of prayer. Earley can be described as a creative writer, and he is an educator and founder of a striving church. He has written numerous books on prayer. Earley stated in his text that “Prayer is certainly not the only act of leadership, but it is the indisputable common denominator of spiritual difference-makers in every generation and in any setting.1 Earley researched and focused on the lives and work of a lot of Christian leaders both in the bible and

The Bible is full of 7,487 promises of God quite a few of these promises demonstrate God enthusiasm to answer prayers.16 Once you develop a prayer life, then the next step is with boldness make your request known unto God for your needs and wants. When Jesus prayed, he was not timid, but he was exact and accurate when he prayed.17 We should follow the example Jesus and come boldly towards the throne of grace expecting to receive what we ask of the …show more content…
I was easily drawn into the subject matter and examples given, as well as, the personal assessment. When I developed my first spiritual growth plan, I stated that prayer and studying the word of God as the two most important areas that I wanted to work on. These two disciplines have always been a struggle for me, and it is my desire to perfect them that I may become a great leader. My purpose for attending Liberty University is to enhance my spiritual walk with God. After reading the book, I was inspired to spend more time in prayer. All my life, I have been in church, and I have seen how the power of prayer can make the difference in people’s life, and how it can transform a person. Once I read Earley’s book, I was truly convinced that I had to have a consistent prayer life. In the book, he convinced me that if I don’t consistently participate in prayer that it is like saying to God that I don’t believe in the power of prayer. Of course, I do believe in the power of prayer, but actions speak louder than words. I made a promise to improve and work hard to go beyond the first two steps and intercede for the church, my family, and community. Now that I have been given this resource or guide on the importance of prayer and how to pray, I know that I can have a powerful, consistent and effective prayer

After establishing the background of his book McMinn (2011) begins to discuss several theological topics related to intra-disciplinary integration. The first theological them McMinn (2011) discusses is prayer. Despite the fact that many students are not adequately trained in theology or possess the necessary spiritual discipline to effectively integrate prayer into counseling, McMinn (2011) believes that prayer is essential to achieve mental and spiritual health. McMinn (2011) also mentions the ethical issues a counselor may come across when using prayer with their clients. McMinn (2011) then offers his readers with several techniques to incorporate prayer into their practice. With each technique that McMinn (2011) describes he also mentions the risk that exist if misused by individuals who have failed to be properly trained in each technique. McMinn (2011) then focuses his reader’s attention to the use of Scripture in counseling. As with prayer, if a counselor is not properly trained in the use of Scripture it can also be ineffective and posses a risk to client. McMinn (2011) points out that the Christian…

We all have had moments of tragedy and despair. It is in our darkest hour that many of us pray to God for comfort, I believe he answers our prayers when we are ready. We need to understand that asking God for material things will probably be ignored, that the greatest gifts we receive from God come from what we live and learn. For instance, my life was very difficult in many ways. I came from a home plagued by mental disease and addiction, it was a very lonely existence and I had often prayed for peace and to be loved unconditionally by another person. It did not seem like too much to want from life, however inside me grew resentment and anger. I was not ready to be loved or for a peaceful existence because I had not even loved myself. Over twenty years I lived my life angry at God for not giving me what seemed basic for most people and it consumed me to the point of near death. I saw what I had become, but now I had a child and I did not want her to feel the pain that I felt. If I did not change, it would just be repeating the vicious cycle. A very life altering decision was made and I began to heal from my past, but I still had a long journey ahead. I still felt lost and needed someone to understand. Finally I begged God to show me…

A thorough assessment may determine the need for the healing power of prayer. McMinn (2011) emphasizes the importance of prayer in and out of a counseling session and the benefits of assisting a client to improve their relationship with God. “The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective” (James 5:16). Prayer can be effective for the client to strengthen their relationship with God. Prayer can lead to a sense of self-identity and prepare a broken client to create a closer, healing relationship with God (McMinn, 2011).…

Reading the article, Thriving at School, was incredibly inspirational as a future teacher. I have heard amazing faith stories of teachers who would stay after school and pray for every student by walking past their locker. There have been teachers who pray for every student on their rosters. What a great way to reflect on the day that you have had or prepare for the day to come. Terri Trepanier states that, “Praying is the only thing I know to do to maintain my sanity and prepare myself to stand firm for this demanding calling.”…

Spiritual leaders are high on moral values, they don’t compromise collaborate and accommodate where their moral values confront. Hence, spiritual leaders are superior in values than the normal leaders. Leaders are the back bone of organization. Indeed, leadership effectiveness is measured by many methods such as 360 degree feedback, and achievement of organizational goals. But the way through which all this can be achieved passed through the spiritual values such as integrity, caring, respect and healthy conversation. And past researches show that there is an alignment between the two terms spirituality and leadership. Why spirituality is associated with leadership as past researches showed that in spiritual organizations leader’s scores are higher than in others in measuring leadership effectiveness (Reave, 2005; Druspat,…

Second, God is at work answering everyone’s prayer. The Bible says in Isaiah 65, verse 24, "It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear." God wants to hear your prayers. He is eager to hear our thoughts and request. He has a desire to have a relationship with His children. The Bible says in James 1, verse 17 that, “Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow.” God loves us enough to hear our prayers and to help us when we need Him most. The apostle Paul reminds us in…

The introduction of the lecture 7 makes a significant point about the fact that we need to follow Jesus’ model for leadership to teach us how to be our best self. It then goes on to provide a fundamental point that we should not imitate leaders whose primary goal is to make money but rather we should imitate a leader who shows us how to really live and lead, to influence others to be everything God has made us to be.…

Unfortunately, most Christians lack this virtue, the reason for some unanswered prayers. A lot of people passing through diverse temptations or trials endure their situations, complaining and murmuring. That is endurance not PATIENCE. As long as one complains and murmurs, he or she is not patiently waiting upon the LORD but enduring. It shows that, the person is not sure whether he or she will receive what he or she is believing the LORD for.…

What has happened to this country’s generation? We used to be a country where you could go out and say “Hey I am a Christian and I am proud of it.” Now we can’t even go into schools and pray or preach a sermon in church without someone getting butt hurt and wanting to file a lawsuit. We need to take a stand and say “Hey I am a Christian and I am still here and I am proud!”…
