Pre-Church Survey Report
Pre-Church Ministry Survey Questions
Periodically it is beneficial to take a step back and look at how we are doing as a church and obtain feedback from the congregation on how we might improve the ministry of the church. Even when we are overall satisfied with the health and direction of the church there are still areas that we can improve. The purpose of this questionnaire is to provide you an opportunity to express both what we are doing well and what areas we can improve upon. Please place a number beside each statement that reflects your assessment of the issue.

Use this scale for questions 1-9
1= Excellent (We are doing exceptional in this area)
2=Adequate (We are average, nothing exceptional, but no real concerns)
3=Needs Attention

    At Justified By Faith Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN, I, Daniel H. Weems, Sr. serve as an Associate Pastor. We are a new church plant about seventeen months old and have around fifty active members. I have been asked to organize and implement a soul care ministry within the church. According to Kenneth Gangel, in his article “The Marks of a Healthy Church,” he seeks to “explain the characteristics of a healthy church using the measurements of the spiritual, biblical, theological, ministry model, and scriptural model of leadership.” To accomplish this Gangel cautions spiritual leaders not to get caught up in measuring church growth in numerical terms. They should accentuate the holiness and sovereignty of God through Bible study, worship, prayer, praise, and fellowship. In following biblical instead of cultural patterns, churches do not feel compelled to stay “up with the times” or get hooked on religious fads and slogans.…

    Administration in the church is an essential part of creating order, it allows the pastoral ministries, to take place. Without some organized form of administration, ministry or pastoral work, as we know it, would be very difficult to achieve. For a church to try to make a determination for or against having an active administration should only serve as a formality. For a church to function without an active administrative role in the 21st century would be quite difficult indeed. As Welch points out in Church Administration: Creating Efficiency for Effective Ministry, administration (or management of the church) is not an optional piece we can choose to include or not include, it exists whether we as church staff decide to acknowledge it or not.[1] Welch examines this in detail, from scripture, which includes 1 Corinthians 12:28 where it clearly states that “God has placed these in the church” as a necessary element of the church body.[2]…

    World War II left the country weary and drained. During the four seemingly-endless years of conflict, almost all churches had rallied behind the war effort. Post-war America a burst in prosperity, and with this support, churches expanded. Church attendance soared while their purpose and goals shifted. As all denominations gained a more powerful voice, they used it to increase their role in society. In 1950, several of the oldest Protestant denominations formed the National Council of Churches in order to improve relations with the government, encourage interchurch connections, and promote projects such as Bible translation.1 This organization also helped to do away with the harsh attitudes and antagonism aimed at Catholicism after the war. Toleration and acceptance seemed to be the key to deepened communication between both church and state as well and Protestants and Catholics.…

    Over the centuries since Jesus walked on the earth, there have been many beliefs and doctrines that have been conceived. Many of these have not established their foundation in God’s Word, the Bible. This has caused a descent from how Christ initially established the Church those many years ago. Many religions today would claim to be the true Church of Jesus Christ. However, most have turned from Bible truths, and are therefore not the true Church of Jesus Christ. The Mormon Church is not the Church of Jesus Christ because they do not hold to the beliefs that the Bible is the complete, inerrant Word of God, salvation is by faith alone, and Jesus Christ has always been God.…
