Precious’s self-concept is everything but positive. She has a very low self-esteem, and she struggles with body image. She thinks that she is ugly, and isn’t accepted by anyone. She always dreams of being a white skinny girl with long blonde hair. She also experienced guilt for being mean to the little girl who wanted her attention. Precious also had difficulty trusting her mother, because she did not believe that her mother was capable of changing for the better. She knew that living with her mother was a harmful environment for herself and her children. Also, Precious being a victim of physical abuse, she is highly at risk of becoming an abusive parent as well.
