Specific Purpose: To critique predictable endings to movies
Central Idea: To critique by explaining what, peoples responses, and why people fall into the scheme of predictable movie endings.
Organization Pattern: Topical
INTRODUCTION
I. Gain Attention: imagine yourself in a movie theater waiting for the most anticipated movie of the year to start and about 30 minutes in to the movie you already know what’s going to happen to each character and how the movie will end.
II. Reveal and Relate Topic to Audience: predictable endings can be a metaphorical knife in your night. This audience should care because they’re wasting money on predictable movies.

Movie critic Sean Means critiques the movie “You, Me, and Dupree.” He called it “entertaining, but very predictable.” The story is about two best friends who grow apart as they get older. Summarize Ideas: predictable endings can ruin a night. Although people still go watch movies and know what they’re getting themselves into and see critic’s reviews they go watch them because there is always something in the back of their mind wondering if their predictions were correct.
IV. Provide Memorable Closing: so next time you’re thinking about going to the movies stop and think “is this really worth the money?” or “do I already know what is going to happen?” think about these things next time. Don’t be disappointed and save some cash.
