Prejudice In The Play Fences

Societal prejudice affects individual's ability to be happy which can be seen in August Wilson's play "Fences." For Bono, the societal prejudices he faces are racism, poverty, and prejudice against convicted felons. These prejudices affect his happiness because they influence the opportunities that Bono has to be financially stable.
I think is not happy because he wasn’t able to play sports .Croy says “ Hey, Pop… You can't do that. He’s coming all the way from North Carolina.” (Act One, Scene 3, pg 35). In other words, He asking Troy to sign his scholarship to go to college. This indicates that He is good enough to get a scholarship but his dad doesn't let him play football. The impact of this is that they got into a argument and were mad at eachother. Troy says “First you gonna get your butt down there to the A&P and get your job.” (Act One, Scene 3, pg 36). Accordingly, Troy thinks that cory can do is just work. This implies that he rather have cory working then playing sports. The effect of this is that cory and troy had a argument about it.
The societal prejudice my character faces is being a brat. In the Story, Croy says “I’d buy a TV. Then when the roof started to leak… When it needed fixing… I’d fix it.” In other words, He rather
have a tv then have a fixed roof. This indicates that he's being a brat. This proves that He was being a brat because he wants something that he will only enjoy.
Yes, the societal prejudice affects my character’s ability to be happy because He is black and the time period wasn't such a friendly time for colored people.
In the story it says “The white man ain’t gonna let you get nowhere with that football noway.” (Act One, Scene 3, pg 35). In other words, Troy is saying that white people would not let an african american person play football with them. This indicates, That Cory won't be happy. The impact of this is that Cory’s doesn't let him play. In the story it says “I don’t know. I got six already, i think that’s enough.” In other words, Cory is saying he wants to leaves the marines. This implies that he wasn’t happy being in the marines. The effect of this is that Cory was
unhappy.
Cory experience shows that racism has to do with your social life. Its is significance to talk about this topics because it's still happening and people are getting hurt. In conclusion, Your race has to do with you being and your social life.
