Kurtz et al (1980) described the first case of prenatal recognition of HPE by ultrasound. HPE has three major types based on decreasing severity: alobar, semilobar and lobar. The most serious expression of classic HPE occurs in alobar HPE. The earliest diagnoses of holoprosencephaly for alobar HPE, semilobar HPE, and lobar HPE were reported at 9.5, 13 and 21 weeks, respectively (12- 13). In this case study, we detected alobar holoprosencephaly in 32 weeks of gestation. Previous routine ultrasound mother (gestational age 12 weeks) had not reported any abnormality.
