The first Magazine that I came across that I really liked was called Chirp Magazine. This is a magazine for 3-6 year old children and it is filled with stories, activities, arts, crafts, and so much fun. This magazine would be great for social studies and expressive arts because it includes activities that help children to explore what they are interested in, like cooking and crafts, that will help them to explore and develop who they are as a person. I would have them read the magazine over together (look at magazines mostly), then pick one activity they wanted to do from the magazine together. Of course I would be prepared for the activities as well. I might say pick from these three or these two. If its a big activity we could do it as a class.
The second magazine that I found was High Five, which is a Highlights magazine but for preschool students. This magazine has much of what the previous magazine has, but they are different yet just as engaging. There are puzzles, stories, recipes, easy crafts and reading that can be done with a parent or adult. I think that this magazine encourages all three aspects of social studies, expressive arts, and motor development through the activities and other neat things that the magazine includes.
Activity: This magazine I would go over as a class in a preschool or kindergarten classroom. I would read the stories in the magazine together as a class and then do a cooking activity together as well.
