INTRODUCTORY SUMMARY: V.C. & Associates along with New York City propose to offer a job training program housed within the NYC Department of Social Services beginning July 1, 2013 the beginning of the fiscal period 2013.
STATEMENT OF NEED: Since Super Storm Sandy in 2012, years of collaboration within the Mayor’s office to crackdown on slumlords, the market crash of 2008 and the continuing efforts to keep New Yorkers safe since 2001, an influx of jobs have been created throughout New York. Since 2007, City-certified Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises have been awarded over 26,000 City prime contracts and subcontracts worth more than $1.9 billion. (nyc.gov 2014) An evaluation of high growth and rapid demand in office administration, security, construction and apartment maintenance poises a need for employable individuals to enter the market place. In the wake of many recent tragedies including both those created by nature as well as those caused by man, we have seen the number the human service organizations grow beyond leaps and bounds. However how these agencies interact with their clients can play a valuable role when these clients come in to receive services. In trying to meet the needs of all those in the wake of such tragedies, it is often hard to understand how someone can also empower others within the agency that is offering services. In the light of helping everyone, many agencies are now implementing services now geared or centered on or around the needs of their client. However, this is one thing that leaves many human service managers faced with a pressing question: How can a human service program or agency come together and in doing so in a manner that can provide an adequate means for this kind of work? It is often because in today’s standards we see so many agencies working with “multimillion-dollar budgets, professional staffs, and expensive facilities that one may find it hard to believe that the underlying philosophy is one that any agency can live on.”…

“Forecasting is an essential part of the budgeting process” (Finkler et al., 2007, p. 430). Determining specific strategies to manage budgets within forecasts is an instrumental facet of budget management analysis. “Forecasts prepared quickly and efficiently at its core not only gives companies the agility to manage as circumstances exchange unpredictably, it also takes less time, enables the implementation of robust incentive schemes and enhances corporate governance” (Sinister, 2009, p. 28). Forecasting is the nurse manager’s decisions about resource allocations for the coming year. For example, a nurse manager will forecast his or her resource allocations for 2014 during the current year of 2013. “Forecasting is a tool that helps in the preparation not only of the operating budget, but also of other budgets” (Finkler et al., 2007, p. 404).…

My current career goal is to continue gaining experience in some of the services that are used to assist clients so that I can get a better understanding of their role in the client’s life. Currently I enjoy working first-hand with at-risk youth in a residential facility, but would also be interested in exploring employment as a Crisis Stabilizer or even a Care Coordinator to better understand that aspect of working with at-risk youth. As I continue to gain experience working in the social work field, I hope that it will prepare me to eventually be successful when it comes to pursuing my future goal of being employed as a social…
