Whenever President Johnson said, “Free at Last” he was saying that now he was in office as president and he could make his own decisions and do what he wanted to do instead of listening to the people above him, he did what he believed was right. When he said that he was quoting Martin Luther King Jr., although he was not stating exactly what King was trying to say he was still saying he was free to do what he really wanted. Johnson knew what was right for his country so he did that exact thing, he integrated blacks and whites so segregation was no longer in place. Even though he didn’t vote for this as senator he now could do the principle decision and integrate everyone.
