With the introduction of chemical warfare, a much greater risk is posed to neighboring friendly and partner countries in the region, particularly Israel, Jordan, Turkey, and Iraq. If the United States shows weakness towards Syria, or pulls back from its stance on the use of chemical weapons, the Assad regime could feel motivated to carry out more attacks, possibly outside of its immediate border. Any show of weakness would also embolden Syria to begin facilitating trade with local insurgent groups (Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, etc…) that would then use the weapons against U.S. allies in the region. Each witness today has…
For 6 years Syria has been at war with itself. In these 5-6 years many people have died. And many towns and cities left and ruined. The beginning of the fifth year of the war half a quarter million people have been killed. And over 10 million have been forced to leave their homes. And it all began with the actions of peaceful protestors. Which has cost the lives of 100,000 people and forced over two million to flee to the relative safety of neighboring countries. This conflict has captured the world’s attention because of the tactics employed by the president of Syria, Bashar al-Assad. Unarmed civilians were attacked and killed by government troops as they searched for the most effective and seemingly brutal method for quelling this uprising. Now there are some US politicians, who feel that it is the duty of our country to get involved militarily, but this with two wars already fought the past ten years, there seems to be little to no public support for this type of move. The United States is not the world’s policeman and should let countries solve their own problems.…
Despite the series of events leading to 9/11 President George Bush implies that the citizens of America have formed in unity after the unexpected attacks. He begins his speech by stating that the “American flag flies again…” which in turn, create a feeling of peace and tranquility after the 9/11 attacks. He suggest that Americans will keep persevering through tough and difficult times and become an even stronger nation. He goes on to say that “the men and women of our Air Force have delivered a message that is clear to everyone … you will not escape the justice of our nation.” President Bush create the mood of patriotism when he implies that the strength of our nation comes from the many men and women risking their lives to fight for America.…
Washington was a state of many white settlers and Indians. But George was one of the first black American settlers in what is now called Washington State. Life back then was tough, especially for a black man. Many laws would make him move or give up land. Today I am going to tell you all about George Washington Bush. About his background, adult life, and why he is important to Washington State.…
In Michelle Obama’s speech “Remarks to the NAACP National Convention,” she laments that childhood obesity is a serious issue in America today, back when she was young children were always out playing and being active, nowadays children would rather sit inside and play video games then do anything else. Since most children are seldom most of the time and spend hours upon hours watching television “every extra hour of TV they watch is associated with the consumption of an additional 167 calories.” (423). Children aren’t just becoming lazier, they’re actually becoming more and more unhealthy as time goes on developing “diabetes and cancer, heart disease, asthma.” (420). In an effort to try and help fix childhood obesity Obama launched the “Let’s Move” campaign, which even features commercials on Disney Channel showing the Disney celebrities outside playing some kind of physical activity. The four main points to this campaign are; The first one consists of giving parents knowledge to give their children healthy food not fast food. The second point states that the government is attempting to replace fatty foods in schools with healthier options, regardless of how the children will feel about it. The third part of the campaign is just trying to show children that being active actually is fun, it doesn’t just have to be challenging. The final point Obamas’ campaign states is that all families no matter what their income is, wealthy or struggling, should have the ability to get fresh and healthy food without breaking the bank.…
or poor, even conservative and liberal” ( Barack Obama 118). This is mean we should love each other like brothers and sisters lives in one house, do not be racist just because they have different skin colors or never be disregard them just because they are poor people. We must and have to help people that they are need our help because helping people is a chance to helping you to In the course of A Dream Fulfilled: The Story of Barack Obama, Barack Obama delivers three important speeches. One important speech Obama delivers is “ Understand - I’m not ashamed of being half Kenyan. I don’t ask myself a lot of questions about what is all means. About who I really am.”( Barack Obama 80). This quote is important because he reminded people that…
Colin Powell life is interesting because he was the first African-American Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. The commencement speech Powell gives at Howard University show his willingness and determination to overcome challenges. Not letting his race put a limitations on what he could or couldn’t do, shows that anyone can do anything and be anyone in this nation. It also shows how times have changed from the past from African Americans being slaves to running president and doing great things. Powell speech showed me in an encouraging way that you don’t have to be big or popular to do great things.…
A good leader is someone who constantly is honest with the people who he or she is surrounded by. A leader who is educated is able to evaluate other people's skills to have the ability to achieve their ideal goals. As many of us know, Barack Obama was the first African American United States President in the United States' history. I remember it was 2010 when Obama established a healthcare system called Obamacare. Obama is considered a good leader by continuously being plausible and an attentive person for almost eight years. Not only is he an attentive worker, but Barack also does other things to help our nation, such as visiting other countries around the globe. Obama uses humor in his speeches…
In John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address, the author shifts from a powerful tone to an instructive tone by setting an example for other countries, inspiring the younger generations of Americans, and instructing his fellow Americans. Kennedy shows a powerful and tone when he says “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any for to assure the survival and the success of liberty.” Kennedy also shows a powerful tone to America’s young people when he states, “We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans- born in in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage- and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.” Kennedy then shifts his tone to instructive when he advices his citizens to “ask not what America will do for you- ask what you can do for your country.” Kennedy shifts from a powerful tone to an instructive tone in his inaugural address by setting an example for other countries, inspiring the younger generations of Americans, and by instructing his fellow Americans.…

In 2001, George W. Bush gave a speech to Congress after the terrorist attack on 9/11. Although I was 10 years old and unable to understand everything then, I am able to understand them now. And as an American citizen I stand by Bush wanting to keep America free and the world a safe place for all human’s to live in. Bush gave this speech on September 20, 2001. Nine days after America had been attacked by terrorists. Bush makes sure to thank many people, including all of America for pulling together and helping each other in this time of confusion and weakness. He then goes on to explain to American why we were attacked and who these terrorists were. They terrorists were al-Qaida, whose goal is to remake the world and impose their radical beliefs on people everywhere. And when it comes down to the important part of Bush’s message, he lets American know that we are going to take matters into our own hands and these terrorists will be taken down.…
Some citizens of the United States dissent with the statements Obama has made these past certain days and some do acknowledge that fact that we have to help these civilians, but we still have those who are undecided. In his speech President Obama stated,” Tyrants won’t think twice about using chemical weapons themselves unless we are to interfere.” It is important for us to take immediate action in order for Assad to understand that we are not playing games. If the U.S were to let the Syrian government abscond, there will be no doubt that he will try to do the same thing again with his people. That is why we should take a military strike against Syria in order for them to understand that we won’t abide the use of chemical weapons.…
After eight months into George W. Bush’s first term as President of the United States, on the morning of September 11, 2001, a division of Al Qaeda perpetrators invaded and hijacked four commercial airline planes. The nineteen hijackers crashed two planes into the North and South Twin Towers of the World Trade Center located in Manhattan, New York City. The hijackers crashed a third plane into The Pentagon located in Arlington, Virginia, and the fourth plane impacted the an area in Pennsylvania. In total nearly 6,000+ victims on board, at work, or visiting, had perished or were severely injured. On September 20, 2001, President George W. Bush addressed the nation, in the midst of the terrorist attacks. In this time of grief, the people as a…
