Preventing Teen Pregnancies
Teen pregnancies has always been an issue in the United States and factors related to teen pregnancy include the lack of sex education being taught in public schools should include the consequences of having sex . Sex education should be taught in schools because teen pregnancies have become too common among teenage girls,and teens aren’t developmentally ready to become parents. Today the United States has the highest rate of teen pregnancy in the developed world with the rate of 96 pregnancies per a thousand girls ages fifteen to nineteen. Although teen pregnancy is an ongoing problem, there are many ways to make it a less occurring incidence by providing more emphasis on sex education to teach teens about the consequences associated with sex .Overall teens aren’t capable to become parents at such a young age.

The reasons for high rate of teen pregnancy in U.S include the lack of openness about sex and limited access to sex education. There should more emphasis placed on the importance of sex education to young and growing children. It also should be taken as a ongoing lesson that begins early in life of children.Young teens should be liberated about sex it can have an huge impact on preventing teen pregnancies. In the article, “Los Angeles Times”, Janice Mall indicates how “In the Netherlands, the country with the lowest rate, sex education in schools is perfunctory but clear”(Mall1). That demonstrates that our schools needs influential and affecting classes that can present teens to all the consequences of sex. Teens need an wide of range of different places to gather more information about sex, pregnancy, relationships ,and birth control. Lead author Pamela Kohler, a program manager at the University of Washington in Seattle supports sex education and points out that, “ It is not harmful to teach teens about birth control in addition to abstinence”(Kohler1). We need to push the idea of firmly showing teens to not make teen pregnancies part of their lives.

Unfortunately many teens just aren’t ready to become parents and take charge of all the responsibilities that comes with becoming a parent. A teens life should mainly be focused on getting an education and preparing themselves for the adult world.Teens have disadvanges on becoming parents themselves which include low self-esteem, difficulty of finishing school ,financialy not stable and can’t respone well to the sudden increase in major responsibilities.Teen Mom is an great example that shows teen just how scary it is being a teen parent by showing them the lives of four teen’s who got pregnant at sixteen.It also shows teens just how hard it is to raise a baby as a teenager, by letting them see what goes on in their lives and the struggles they deal with everyday.It also affects education only a one third of teen mothers earn their high school diploma which doesn’t help to get them a good earning job. In the article, “Health Guidance”, Charlene J. Nuble indicates that “Pregnancy is one of the pivotal moments of a woman 's life but not when you 're young with a bright future ahead ,Teen pregnancy is one of the most difficult experiences any young woman can go through.” (Nuble1). No teenages should go to the struggles of becoming parents to quickly. Teenagers can’t take care of child with themselves still being a child , it’s an outrageous idea to become a parent when you’re suppose to be living your life.

More than 750,000 teenage girls will become pregnant this year,so lets start putting improved sex education classes in public schools. Some people think that sex education classes in public schools are a waste of tax dollars. In the article,“The New York Times”, Dr.David A.Grimes, vice president of Family Health International states, “ Spending tens of million of tax dollars each year on programs that hurt our children is bad medicine and bad public policy.”(Grimes1) Sex education can never be harmful to teens , it’s teaching teens how to respond and act when they encounter sex. In the article, “Time”, Bonnie Rochman suggest that “Sex ed leads teens and young adults to delay sexual intercourse, according to the research;which relied on data from the National Center for Health Statistics”(Rochman1). Whether you like the idea or not many teens choose to have to have sex and we need to educate them so we can reduce the number of teen moms in the United States.

Sex education should be taken more seriously in school to provide information about delaying sex, using protection during sex and making good decisions about partners. Schools should allow productive sex educations classes at a reasonable age to help decrease the numbers of teen pregancies and child bearing.No teenager deserves to have their childhood taken away from them.They deserve to achieve all the goals they want in their life and to gain new experinces. What 's the rush in becoming a parent at such an young age, teens should have kids once they have a stable job and home.Lets educate our generation through sex education in schools to help prevent teen pregnancies.
