Primary Sensory Cortex Essay
The primary sensory cortex is where the brain first begins to process and make sense of sensory information experienced by a person’s senses. Each one of the sensations: vision, sound, smell, taste and touch has its own area of primary sensory cortex.
The primary somatosensory cortex is one of the main sensory areas of the brain. This area processes information from the different systems in the body that are sensitive to touch. The sense of touch is frequently thought of as a single sense. However, pressure, pain and temperature are different sensory experiences involved with the sense of touch. If this area becomes damaged, a person might experience problems with the sense of touch.
