Title: A Vietnamese Immigrant on the West Coast
A Vietnamese Immigrant on the West Coast was written by James M. Freeman in South Asia. The subjects of this primary source were focused on Vietnamese Immigrant in America. However, the main purpose of this primary source was mainly about anonymous man family “escaped by boat from Vietnam and arrived in Hong Kong” (315). They remained three month and move to America, to live in his brother’s house for five months, but after he decided to move to West Coast; but he is always moving place to place and town to town (315).

During this period, he has three reason that he was very happy to be in America. First, he is proud of himself about he can do many things compare to other people. Secondly, he has no stress to living in America because has no war. Third, the most important thing is “freedom” because he can do whatever he wants and easily to move place to place, without escaped to hide in somewhere that wants to catch them.
On the other hand, no matter how peaceful it is or how much freedom he has in America; He still wants to return to Vietnam one day because he misses his hometown so much. Therefore, culture is different in America, more private and don’t spend a lot of time with others or family.
Define the words of communist and capitalist. In Vietnam, it was during in the “communist regime” (317) situation, they were not free to do anything as they wanted. The “capitalist” is mean of a good for the “capitalistic spirit” (317). After all, Vietnam stops being communist and became capitalist, and will not to torture them
