A few verses and a bridge are included in the song between choruses to make the song interesting. Most of the songs are about happy love or sadness and you dress according to your gender. When Prince Rogers Nelson enters the music industry at the ripe age of 22, he is to follow these rules and guidelines, right? Wrong. Prince took every possible expectation and flipped it upside down to create what Rock and Roll Hall of Fame reporters describe as “his own blueprint for success”. He later collaborated with Prince on music and reportedly encouraged Prince’s interest in the Jehovah’s Witnesses.” (Hayes, Fowler, McCloy, O’Key). Prince’s sound was recognizable and distinct in its own way, however, his influences were a long running list of wonderful artists on their own. These are examples of empowered, multi-talented, and nearly as influential artists that got their start from the same man. D’Angelo was five years old when Prince’s ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’ came out. He told Okayplayer, “When that album came out, it was just huge. He really, literally, was the talk of the town. Everybody was wondering, ‘Who is this guy? Is he a guy? Is it a girl?’ No one really knew who it was. I remember we had the album, and my brothers were just enamored by this guy. They told me, ‘He plays everything, he writes everything, he’s singing everything,’ so I was hooked from then on. I learned how to play every song on that album, note for note, at five years old.” (D’Angelo) Hits such as “Uptown Funk”, “Hey Ya”, “Untitled (How Does It Feel)”, “1 plus 1”, “Blow”, “Like You’ll Never See Me Again”, and so many others might not have existed if it weren’t for Prince’s musical sound inventions. In the music industry, there have been many figures that have transformed the business, as we know it. Perhaps the most successful of these is Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid. Antonio Reid has been best known for his determination to strive for success. He exhibits an array of skills both in his musical talents and managerial flair. Having been exposed to both the singer/songwriter, and behind-the-scenes work since his roots in the industry, Reid has without a doubt grasped the music business in its entirety in a way in which no other person has. Displaying musical skill in vocals, piano, and percussion (Net Industries, 2011. Para8) as well as his outstanding ability to manage and multitask, describing himself as an “overachiever”(Norment, 2003. Para 8.), Reid fits all the requirements for a successful career in the music industry. However what set’s him apart from the rest, is his infamous ability know talent when he see’s it. Despite being unable to describe exactly how he obtained such a skill in the industry, stating, “It’s something that I feel when I meet an artist”(Net Industries, 2011. Para10), it is without saying that he has proven his ability to recognise star-quality when he can see it. This is evident through his countless triumphs in his career, discovering successful artists such as Toni Braxton, TLC, Usher and Pink, just to name a few. (Net Industries, 2011. Para10&11) Reid’s unique sense of knowledge in the music industry, along with his other attributes, distinguishes him from others in the music industry, and has helped his success. His passion for all genres of music, having grasped the importance of musical diversity, has set him apart from others in his line of work. Not only is this something that I admire in Reid, but also it is something that I wish to apply to my own career in the entertainment industry, and hope to obtain enough experience and knowledge to strengthen a sense of understanding of what can be successful music. I…

Some notable artists who had influences on Michael are Little Richard, Diana Ross, and James Brown. The Little Richard influence is obvious, as his behaviors alone helped pave the way for more eccentric and flamboyant personas and performances in the musical world, and the words eccentric and flamboyant definitely describe Michael. Michael stated that Diana Ross helped him perfect his vocal technique and he also started using the “oooh” interjection which came from Diana Ross. As for James Brown, Michael also said this powerful statement about him, “And when I saw him move, I was mesmerized. I had never seen a performer perform like James Brown, and right then and there I knew that was exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life because of James Brown.” Michael’s main influences were R&B, soul, and pop, but you can hear much more genres of music bleeding through his works such as rock, blues, and…

Eminem’s music is an influence because of its rhythmical story behind it.
