Before Prince, artists wore clothes like any other day, however, now in some performances the most extravagant part of a live show is the artist’s outfit. For example, Lady Gaga is known for how excessive her outfits are every time she performs. Andre 300, who has stated how important Prince was in his career, could not have a performance without the media buzzing over his outfit (Reed, Ryan, and Kory Grow). Prince’s influence is so strong that he has influenced the rap industry with his clothing style as well. A major rapper, currently, Young thug wears clothes that many consider to be “women’s clothing” during his performances, which he believes help some of his songs get their message across better.
