Princess Louise, the protagonist, was my absolute favourite character in this novel. She was remarkably interesting and had many layers that revealed themselves as the story progressed. The most intriguing aspect of Louise’s persona was her strong will that gave her the courage to break free from royal constraints and gain her independence. Louise’s love interest, Stephen Byrne, was another one of my favourite characters in this novel. The way he protected and cared for Louise and her family while providing her with the love she deserved was heartwarming. In general, Mary Hart Perry’s complex and multidimensional characters propelled the story forward and made this novel a page
