INTRODUCTION
➢ As per WHO, "The hospital is an integral part of a social and medical organization, the function of which is to provide for the population complete health care, both curative and preventive and whose outpatient services reach out to the family and its home environment
➢ The hospital is also a centre for training of health workers and for biosocial research."
➢ Hospital, in other words, is an agency of delivering health care services to the community.
➢ As per the World health Report (2006), if we do not plan the future requirement of the health care professionals now, there will be acute shortage of the medical man power in next decade; about 4.2 million work forces of health care providers will be required during the next decade.
➢ The emphasis is also to be laid down on training the non-medical personnel in the specialty of Hospital/healthcare administration, to save the medical/nursing manpower for medical care only.
WHAT IS HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION VS MANAAGEMENT
➢ Management as a whole can be divided into two parts; administrative management or administration is the function of top management, it is concerned with policy formulation, planning, decision making and problem solving (Fig. 1).
