The Outsiders gives the reader hints and ideas from the story explaining how we should act and other moral issues. For example, a message the author describes is to stay young and innocent. The Greasers, specifically the younger Greasers, are taught to smoke and kill at a young age. This leads them to do bad things such as going to jail, participating in rumbles, and robbing stores. In other words, bad influence at a young age allows them to do illegal actions. By showing these actions from characters and the negative results, Hinton leads readers to the best idea of civility- trying to prevent the habit of performing crimes and being corrupted. Also, S.E. Hinton sends an important message to people who want to give up. She gives clues throughout the story about the importance of friendship and to not block out your emotions and problems. When Johnny dies, Ponyboy started to give up, emotionally and physically. He keeps on convincing himself that Johnny isn’t dead and also neglects his family, including his gang. S.E. Hinton teaches the readers that just because they’ve been…

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey's shows a real problem which is power. Nurse Ratched and Randle McMurphy are in a war together to gather eachothers power. As John Adman stated, "Because power corrupts, society's demands for moral authority and character increase as the importance of the position increase." This once again relates to power equals corruption. This is due to the fact that people want to be bigger and better than everyone else. Right off the back you can see the idea of men, great men, being bad is evident in the book.…
The advancement of technology over the last decade has been used to further security methods in society. Devices such as surveillance systems in stores have caught suspects and decreased crime, but only by a mere 0.05% (Welsh, Farrington) (specifically in Chicago, which currently has 15,000 cameras throughout the city). So, does this implementation of surveillance really make people behave? The texts “Panopticism” by Michel Foucault and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey both focus on how to make people behave. Foucault's theory explains that if surveillance is used on people in seclusion, the authorities will claim ultimate control. Kesey’s novel challenges this theory once new ward member McMurphy is transferred in, as he provokes…

We will also discuss some of the methods used to build effective relationships with superiors and peers. Finally we will look at the role of the leader in different participatory management methods.…
Humans are constantly living under the presence of threatening forces. More often than not, human’s immediate reaction to threatening forces is to escape from it. In her play, The Shape of a Girl, Joan MacLeod demonstrates that an individual often reacts in an inhumane manner towards a moral issue when under the pressure of threatening forces in order to prevent any potential harm. Nevertheless, it is the fear of being harmed that ultimately causes greater damage to oneself; by acting immorally, one may ironically harm oneself more than they might have if they have acted more humanly. All three roles that are included in the bullying of Sofie are affected tremendously by fear caused due to threatening forces. Bradie, the bystander, Sofie the victim, and Adrienne the bully all display their own fear in different ways.…
