If you had a terminal illness and you were suffering would you want to end the pain? Many people and doctors are split on the issue. What side are you on for doctor assisted suicide. Would you prolong their suffering or let them pass gracefully. In my opinion I think it should be allowed. In some cases patients beg doctors for the assisted suicide but it is not allowed.
First of all, not many states are for assisted suicide. There are only 5 states that legalized assisted suicide. They include Oregon, Montana, Washington,Vermont, and California. Oregon was the first state to legalize it. It was very popular in voting.
Furthermore, many families spend loads of money keeping their loved ones alive. Keeping people on life support is very expensive. So by letting them pass it would be much easier on the family's financial standpoint. Also, if they are in so much pain that they want to kill themselves their wish should be granted. They think that it's the doctor's job to save the patient so they should not be allowed to just end it. Also, people go back to the hippocratic oath. It states I will give no deadly medicine to anyone if asked, nor suggest any such counsel. This has been the rule for quite some time.
In conclusion, you can believe whatever you want on the assisted suicide subject. In my opinion, it should be legal. Even though it has its pros and cons. It people will always be divided on the issue. I’m waiting for that day where it is legal though!
