In sociology, this idea is called the sociological imagination. People on either sides see the other as misinformed, evil, or without proper values, but if they were to set aside their beliefs for a little while and see where the other side is coming from they could come to compromise, or all shift to one side or the other. The main fuel for this debate is fear and uncertainty of what these decisions will cause in the future. For Pro-Lifers, they think people with start killing discriminately, eliminating out undesirable genes and selecting sexes like they do in China and India. The same argument was used for allowing gays to marry; people feared that if they were allowed to marry that what stopping people from marrying animals or minors. It is still early for the gay marriage thing to pan out, but as of right now, sixty-year-old men are not arguing for the right to marry their eight-year-old girlfriend. For Pro-Choicers, they fear eliminating the choice will push women to finding unsafe ways to end pregnancies such as back-door abortions or coat hanger abortions. A person could, also, jump in the shoes of someone from every part of this debate: a woman who regrets her decision, a woman who went through back door abortion, a health care provider that administers abortion, or even someone who is devout Christian, just to see why they think the way they
