Photosynthesis is a chemical process that converts the sunlight into a chemical energy that plants store for later. Without photosynthesis, the world as we know it would not exist. All the plants would die and so would a major food and oxygen source. During Photosynthesis water is sucked up through the roots up the stem and to the leaves. The leaves take in carbon dioxide and begin to absorb sunlight. these things combine to make glucose and oxygen. The plant then uses the glucose and oxygen is expelled through the stomata of the plant as a waste product. In The leaves there are a very special pigment called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is responsible for the absorption of sunlight. Richard Martin Willstätter is the man responsible for studying these structures.…
The question between whether abortion is morally right or wrong has been talked about for years and no common ground has been made. Judith Thomson, a believer in Pro-choice, argues that abortion is not wrong because the mother should have a choice of what happens to her body. In response to this, Donald Marquis who is against abortion believes every fetus is a human with a right to have a future like ours. Each Ethicist gives examples and theories as to why abortion is wrong or right. In this essay, I will attempt to show that abortion is okay in some cases, and Donald Marquis’s views and arguments are broad and incorrect.…
The issue of abortion is by far, one of the most controversial topics in American History and everyone seems to have an opinion on the topic. Although there are many sides to the topic, the issue has divided the majority of people to the two extreme views of the topic --Pro-choice Vs. Pro-life. We can see the main arguments of each side just by analyzing the titles given to the two sides. Those who are pro-life believe that they are in fact Pro-Life and that abortion is murder. Those who are pro-choice believe that they are Pro-choice and that outlawing abortion would take the women's freedom to make a choice about her own body. Feelings and emotions about such an issue are very powerful and it has been the case that both sides will go to extremes to defend what they believe in. Such was the case Rosalie and Hector Zevallos, owners of an abortion clinic who were kidnapped and threatened with their lives, if they would not close down their clinic. (Glover, CC, 22)…
One of the big issues today is Abortion. Abortion is defined as: Termination of pregnancy and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus that is incapable of survival. The two sides of this issue are Pro-life and Pro-Choice. My goal is to give you and introduction to both sides of the issue, a few views form supporters of both sides, and finally my personal views and feelings. This is not intended to influence you to make a a decision one way or the other, but instead to enlighten you to judge for yourself.…
In the article, “New Pro- Choice Argument Reveals the Need for a New Pro- Life Message” the author, Ardee Coolidge indicates that there needs to be a change to the pro- life debate arguments. To strengthen the pro- life argument the first is to change its name to, “pro- abundant life.” Next is by understanding the four new stances for this argument. The first stance being marriage, raising a child with two parents is the most conducive environment for the abundant life. The second stance is Fatherhood, in the article it claims that the father is the most influential factor when deciding to get an abortion, nonetheless there should be more focus on the father's. The third stance is Christ, Christ is the only one who is able to transform hearts.…
According to BPAS (2010), which is Britain's largest single abortion provider caring for over 55,000 women each year, abortion is a process of ending a pregnancy in early month. Most of the times, a woman can take medicine or having surgery to end her pregnancy and the abortion using this two types of methods are usually done in the first three months of the pregnancy. Abortion is usually done by a doctor and other health care professionals in the hospital, doctor’s office or health center. As mentioned before, there are two types of abortion. A medical abortion is an abortion caused by medicine and it could only be done in the first nine weeks of pregnancy. The most common type of medical abortion uses a medicine called mifepristone in the process of abortion. The function of this pill is to block progesterone which is a hormone needed for pregnancy. It causes the lining of the womb to become thin. However, a woman may try a surgery abortion when medical abortion does not work. A doctor removes the lining of the womb in a surgical abortion. The abortion debate has been on going over the last three decades. People argue about the conflict of the rights for the human rights and the reproductive rights of women or the human right advocates. As a human, we have to stand on the pro-life position which we have to respect the unborn child or we should stand on the pro-choice or pro-abortion position which we have to respect the parents’ decisions whether they want to give birth to the unborn child due to some valid reasons?…
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy before the fetus is capable of independent life. There are many perspectives on abortion. The main perspectives are pro-life and pro-choice, yet the medical and legal communities also have their own perspectives too. In this research paper, I will show and respond to the pro-life and pro-choice perspectives, and then advance the topic of abortion by integrating the various perspectives on a biological timeline.…
I am aware that this may be an uncomfortable topic for most people, you could even say a down right hostel conversation to have if you don’t share the same views. I have met people who are either pro-choice or pro-life and while neither group are bad people, I’ve found that neither group is fully informed of the others views and facts. I feel that pro-life is the best decision to make although I do understand the pro-choice position. My feelings and thoughts come from a very personal story. My own mother could have very well made the pro-choice decision and aborted me. It would have really made since to, being that her and my father had broken up, she already had two other children, and she was ten years my father’s elder. I can’t say that if some women had been in that situation they would have made the same choice. With those kinds of conditions the odds were stacked against me. But as you can see she believed that pro-life was the only way for her to go. I asked her when I became an adult why she made that decision, although I thought I already knew what her answer would be (religion), she surprised me by saying that she couldn’t kill an innocent person because of the choices she made. Those made me really want to dig into this subject because up until then I would have said that I was pro-choice. As simple as that story may sound, it helped me shape my views on the pro-life/pro-choice debate. The other things that helped were some facts. I would like to share some with you. The basic argument is Pro-choice believes abortion is a right that should not be limited by the government or religious authority, and that pregnant women will resort to unsafe abortions if there are no other options. While Pro-life believes that life starts at conception, therefore abortion is immoral killing of innocent human beings and it is unfair to allow abortions when couples who cannot biologically conceive are waiting to adopt. On the…
The doctor came in the waiting room, he approached the young woman in distress, he looked at his clipboard, then at the young woman “you are carrying, you have a choice”.…
For many years, abortion has been perhaps the most controversial issue in America. The controversy is between protecting an unborn child’s life and taking away a woman’s constitutional freedom to choose. Those who are Pro-Choice believe that a woman should be allowed to control their own body and no one has the right to compel their morals on them. Pro-Life advocates like Jennifer Simmons, believe that a constitutional amendment should be pass giving equal protection to all including unborn children. To voice her opinion and spread her beliefs, Simmons wrote a paper to reach out and convince those undecided minds that Pro-Life is morally the only choice.…
Abortion, a medical practice that results in termination of a human pregnancy, dates back to ancient Egypt and is recorded in the Ebers Papyrus, a medical text from the time of 1550 BCE (“When Did Abortion…”, par. 2). Abortion is a hot topic that is currently sweeping the US and has been for many years now. There are two stances citizens tend to take on the issue of abortion: pro-choice and pro-life. Many people do not advocate strongly for either; they lie somewhere in the middle gray area. Both people who are pro-choice and pro-life have coherent grounds for believing in such. It is logical to base such reasoning on evidence to prove their claims. The people who are pro-choice have several reasons to support their stance, although those who…
In the hundred year argument of pro life vs pro choice there is one thing no one has even argued for. Everyone is trying to claw their way up to the top of the food chain. making the same arguments over and over again trying to seem as smart as possible without getting anything done. This is the stupidity of the American intellectual society. Before we even think about if it's right or wrong to force to be mothers to take a child into this cruel world or to save the child's individual genetic link to the rest of the human race. We need to first look at what we will do with the unwanted babies.…
In this world there are at least two sides to every story. The opposite sides are not necessarily good or bad, but different from each other. One of these "stories" is the story of abortion. Abortion is defined as the destruction or termination of a fetus while still in the mother's womb. However, abortion is so much more then just the definition. There are consequences. There are two sides: pro-life and pro-choice. There is controversy over which is the correct way to go. Personally knowing people who have chosen opposite sides on this one particular topic makes it one that truly means a lot to me as a writer.…
The idea has of abortion has been around since people figured out how babies have come to be, and there always has been two sides the recently coined terms Pro-Life and Pro-Choice. The Pro-Lifers believe that the unborn fetuses have as much rights as a born child and that to terminate the pregnancy would be the same as murdering a person outside the womb. The Pro-Choicers believe it is up to the individual person to make the decision whether to continue the pregnancy or terminate. They may not personally believe in abortion, but they feel it is not their place to decide what a woman should do with her body.…
The permissibility of abortion is a highly debated ethical dilemma. There have been many valid arguments for both sides. Don Marquis is an author who presented his view on the topic in his article titled “Why Abortion is immoral”. An equally convincing paper has also been written by author Judith Jarvis Thomson debating the other side of the argument. Her work is titled “A Defense of Abortion”. Both of these papers attempt to use logical arguments to persuade the reader that their view on the abortion issue is the most ethical.…
