Companies often organize their departments into teams that support each other to complete tasks or projects. When working in groups, communication is vital to the success of the team. Teams must work well individually as well as a members of a team. Communication on an individual level differs from communication within a group. Individually, you must actively listen and insure accurate understanding, offer to help solve problems, and focus on not being distracted by your own emotions. You cannot allow your emotions to distract you or cause you to miss the key points or misinterpret information. In my placement, group interaction took place in a staff and workers meeting to discuss how Mr.P was progressing and how his care plan was being achieved to the best of its ability. All workers involved were seated around a table as the discussion continued. Care Manager Tracy began to talk about Mr.P's care plan and how he has been getting on in the home. Feedback was given by several members of staff about how he has developed and became much more confident as and when he was approached and that he was getting along with other service users much easier.…

Group communication relies on prior understanding of the group objectives and the group's culture. Unlike individual communication, individuals in a group do not provide feedback directly to one another. Rather, they provide feedback to be addressed by the entire group. An effective communicator is successful in establishing an active two-way link with another individual or group. When people work in groups, there are two quite separate issues involved. The first is the task and the problems involved in getting the job done.
