Next is the well known belief that taking a vitamin c supplement will help increase your immune system and in return reduce your risk for catching and infections. According to medical researchers report in Seizer and Whitney’s 11th Edition Nutrition Concepts and Controversies, there is no solid proof behind this theory. Although taking a vitamin c supplement daily is still beneficiary just not in the curing of a cold. 1 gram per day has statistically been proven to lower antihistamine levels in the blood. Histamines are what make you sneeze, have a runny nose and also have swollen sinuses. Taking a vitamin c supplement can help boost your immune defenses and make it harder for you to catch a cold in the future. Medical researchers do not recommend taking vitamin c to purely just fight a cold once you have one.
