Before you start to do these easy steps, please follow my safety tips first. You should double check your manual for specific safety measures during an oil change. Place chocks against the wheels to prevent your car rolling, never use a jack to change oil. Do not permit anyone inside the car while changing oil. Be careful of hot, draining oil, and double check to make sure the oil filter is seated properly.
First, you have to know what's needed to start. See your owner's manual to find out how many quarts of oil are needed and the "weight" of the oil recommended. Get a new oil filter for the make, model and year of your car. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully on how to thread and mount filter. You'll need an oil filter wrench to remove the old filter, and a wrench to fit your car's oil drain plug.
Second, park position your car in driveway or similar safe and convenient location. Run the car's engine for ten minutes before you drain the oil then turn off the engine. Crawl under the car to place the drain pan under the car beneath the oil filter. Make last few turns by hand so plug does not fall in pan. Please be careful not to get hot oil on your hands. Wipe off the drain plug and the plug opening when the oil finishes draining. Then, reinstall the plug back. Always start threading any bolts or screws by hand to prevent cross threading.
Third, remove the old filter with the filter
