I. Introduction
Smoking is very dangerous to all people in the world. Statistic from Ministry of health Malaysia, the number of smoker among teenagers is always increasing every year. The production and sale of cigarettes should be made illegal because it can cause many serious health problems, leading cause to death, illness and impoverishment, and harmful to people in surrounding.
II. Body
A. One reason why production and sale of cigarettes should be made illegal is because it can cause many serious health problems 1. Smoking raises blood pressure, which can cause hypertension (high blood pressure) – a risk factor for heart attack and stroke (Dr Carl J Brandt,2011) a) Failure of respiratory system to help blood circulation in body will increase the potential for heart attack b) Studies show that few people understand the specific health risks of tobacco use. c) Smokers account for 87 percent of all cases of lung cancer, according to the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute says smokers are six times more likely to suffer heart attacks than non-smokers (New Straits Times)
2. Smoking also affects your looks. a) Smokers have paler skin and more wrinkles. This because smoking reduces the blood supply to the skin and lowers levels of vitamin A (Dr Carl J Brandt,2011)
B. Another reason why the production and sale of cigarettes should be made illegal is leading cause of death, illness and impoverishment (WHO) 1. Nearly 80% of the more than one billion smokers worldwide live in low and middle income countries, where the burden of tobacco related illness and death is heaviest (WHO). a) 53% people death caused by cigarettes every year. b) If the sales and production will be made illegal, it can reduce number of death.
2. Tobacco users who die prematurely deprive their families of income, raise the cost on health care and
