The athletes who make all that money work really hard to get to the professional leagues and be a great player. Also it’s the team owner who pays the all that money to a player. If a player hits 30 home runs in one season and another 30 home runs the next season and continues that for many years, that player is gonna get a big contract because he’s a great player and that's what teams want. 1.6% of college football players make it to the NFL, 6.8% of college hockey players make it to the NHL, 1.4% of college soccer players make it to the MLS.
