Personal Code of Ethics
Professional Ethics Statement For Guiseppina Saieva. As an ethics-based health care professional, I will strive to meet or exceed the statements below in the daily practice of my profession. The code of ethics is one that I feel is very important in life, both personally and professional
As a health care professional I shall be honest, the more honest you are, the more trustworthy you become. I shall have integrity, the better of a person you are, the better an image you present. I will be responsible because you must be responsible in life so that others can rely on you. I shall tell the truth. The value of truth is immeasurable, because without it, the world would just be filled with lies. I shall give credit where credit is due because without crediting people for their ideas/works, it is considered stealing and we are cheating them of their hard work. I will always be courteous because every act of kindness makes a difference in the life of someone. I will have and give respect. One of the most important things is to treat other as you wish to be treated. I shall have and display …show more content…
trust. Trust is the building block of relationships we create in our lives. I shall be harmonious because to live together and get along with everyone is a “delicacy” that we all long for. I pride myself as being an extraordinary health care professional, developing strong relationships within my patients and co-workers. I am dedicated to providing exemplary services, to my patients. I will have a compassionate commitment to maintaining healthier lives within my community through continued education that helps us to provide excellent quality of care.
Personal Code of Ethics Support Document
The Code of Ethics is intended to be principles to guide organization’s beliefs. These basic principles are established on matters of the organization’s mission statement, quality, and social issues. My statement will review the code of ethics for a healthcare professional. My personal statement will include clarity of goals, identified ethical principles, beliefs and procedures. I chose these codes of ethics because health care is a dynamic environment where one area affects the other (Morrison, 2011). A code of ethics is a document that serves as a foundation for the profession or health care specialty, providing ethical guidance. A health care professional is a very reputable profession, and as a health care professional, it is vital that I provide safe, compassionate, and competent health care services. It is expected that all health care professionals carry out their responsibilities and tasks while respecting all patients’ rights and sensitivities. That is why it is so important that I am guided by a personal code of ethics. I learned that many ethical challenges are presented to healthcare professionals daily. The goals of a health care professionals code of ethics establishes that they are following the basic standard of care for patients. I learned in this course that health care professionals should give no regard to the social or economic background of the patients or co-workers. I also learned that all health care professionals should have respect and dignity with all patients, colleagues, and everyone else that the health care professional encounters. I and everyone else in the health care profession should have commitment to each individual patient. This can mean not only an individual person, but also the family or community so that quality service will be provided. Ethnic is based on the rules and guidelines an individual uses to govern his/her life, as well as
the manner in which he or she interacts with others. A personal code of ethics is a necessary ingredient to achieve success or overcome adversity, this is why I chose my personal code of ethics. In the absence of rules, it 's difficult to hold oneself accountable for poor decision-making or bad behavior. On the other hand, organizational ethics are the principals and standards by which businesses operate. They are best demonstrated through acts of fairness, compassion, integrity, honor and responsibility. The key for business owners and executives is ensuring that all employees understand these ethics. One of the best ways to communicate organizational ethics is by training employees on company standards. While ethical behavior in medical practice has been demonstrated to be beneficial to patients and medical staffs, unethical behavior has caused significant injury to them.
Performing ethical behavior in healthcare by, for example, preserving patient confidentiality, medical staffs should respect patients’ autonomy, abide by their obligation to reciprocate patients’ trust, and preserve public confidence in the staff-patient relationship in healthcare. In a long run, patients who trust their medical providers to safeguard their secrets are more likely to seek prompt care for stigmatized health conditions and to disclose sensitive information necessary for appropriate treatment and diagnosis (Chou-Kang, C. June,
2010). Practicing my personal code of ethics will help me achieve the highest level of good or virtue (Morrison, 2011). As a health care professional I have learned and I understand the imperativeness of following the morals and ethics in every aspect of my profession as well as personal life. For all health care professionals in every part of the world it is important to provide ethical, high-quality care for patients, while being fully aware of all aspects of care and surroundings. It is vitally important to respond appropriately to the patient’s cultural beliefs, and values. Having principles and forming expectations help improve the quality of patient-centered care and communication.
